Chapter 17Eight fifteen the next morning. I was usually still in bed at that hour, but a bad dream or two had convinced me to get up. The coffee was brewing and I was having some canned sardines when the phone rang. It was Scarlett. Another bad dream. “Get over here as fast as you can,” she said. “We're leaving.” I could tell that this was the real thing. “Now hold on, Scarlett, I haven't had my breakfast yet.
