She still couldn’t believe that today marks a year of her supposed
marriage which her ex-fiancée or should she say her husband to
be who got married to her best friend instead of being married to
her. She watched as flakes of snow fell from her window to the
white ground filled with snow and made a sign of painful
memories which almost led to cry but she had to stop it with a
bite of her lower lips.
Hey beauty! Annabel’s mother said with a sad smile knowing
exactly what her daughter was thinking about but could do
nothing to stop her from thinking about it.
Hello mother. She said cleaning the tears off her face quickly so
that her mother would not see her crying and get upset
What are you doing here all alone dear? She asked
Nothing mother just getting some fresh air. She replied
Oh darling am sorry I was such a bad mother. She said
No mother, you are the best mother in the world. She replied
I wish I can say that too. Her mother replied as she held back the
tears forming in her throat.
Well I am assuring you mother that you are the best mother in
the world.
Really my beauty? She asked with a smile
Yes, mother you and father are the best parent a child could ask
for. She replied with tears gushing down her face.
And I hope you know we do love you right? Teresa asked
Mrs. Stone-will may I come in please? Jessica asked after
knocking on the door and then realizing the mother and daughter
were having a heart to heart talk Come in Jessica. Mrs. Stone-will say with a sign of relief as she
was not ready to have any emotional talk with her daughter
Good day ma’am. Jessica who is always happy to see Annabel
said with a smile but was disappointed when she neither replies
nor smile at her like she was used to.
Ma’am hope all is well? Jess asked once she was left alone with her
Oh Jess it’s nothing much am just a little disturbed. She
answered
Darling you know you can always tell your old Aunt anything as
long as it makes you feel alright. Old Jess said
Aunt Jess please I am only concerned about my life. She said
hugging her confidant tight as tears rush down her face.
Annabel than just a housemaid,
she raised her from when she was just a little baby till she was
old enough to know the different between good and bad, Aunt
Jess was the only mother she knew till the day she was able to
talk, she was the one present on the day of her graduation, she
was the only mother who ever remembered her birthday, she is
the only person in Annabel’s house who knows her favorite food,
her favorite snacks and her favorite color, whenever she get
bullied Aunt Jess was the one who always bully the bully back
since Annabel was such a small girl while growing up, Aunt Jess
was the woman behind her smile and she was the only one who
taught her about life, she was the one who advised her not to get involved with Benson, she was the only one who was able to lend
her a shoulder to cry on, she was the only one who feel what she
felt and just as she felt it.
I just can’t stop thinking about Benson, I was so sure we would
get married but eventually we never did. She cried while resting
her head on Jess’s shoulder
My darling, don’t you cry over him or do you want old Jess to cry
too? She asked the lady she once knew to be just a little toddler
While growing up, Annabel was such a troublesome baby but her
parent never got to experience what it was like since they were
always busy doing one thing or the other trying to make life
better for their only daughter but forgot to give her attention
knowing Jessie was there to take good care of her, although she
was paid high amount but still she wished her boss could see
how wonderful their little princess was, it was never like that for
the little girl as she never experienced any motherly love from her
mother neither does she know how good or bad it felt to have a
father, her mother was never there when she had a crush on a
boy in her class but was too scared to tell him and she had to cry
home anytime she sees him with another girl, her mother was not
there when she wanted to go to a prom but was so shy and
needed some encouragement, her mother was not there when she
had to repeat the same class and Annabel almost cried herself to
death saying she would be embarrassed to face her mate and
most especially Jade who envy her a lot, her mother was not
there when she changed her school for the sake of not wanting to
