Chapter 13 Nathan’s POV “So Freybelle, Nathan has told me everything he knows so far but there are a few gaps I would like your help with if you are able.” Fenn said, his eyes darting between me and Frey. I wanted to hold her hand; to show her I was here for her, but I didn’t want to anger my Alpha right now. If they thought I had clouded judgement they would immediately thrown her, literally, to the wolves. I wouldn’t let that happen but especially not because I was slowly coming round to the idea that she might be my mate. “Of course, Alpha, I want to help in any way I can… If Nathan told you everything then I’m sure you can understand why I want to help.” “Hmmm.” Alpha Fenn hummed whilst looking at me. “So, you knew nothing about your family’s transgressions, despite your years of being around them.” I looked at my Alpha with a frown, I had already told him. “I did not.” Frey explained to him about her childhood and later years then about being sent away multiple times. She explained how she was away when the Luna was attacked and there were no signs that it had happened. “We were travelling witches, never staying in one place long so it wasn’t unusual for me to return to a different area.” She sighed and I could tell she was feeling Fenn’s distrust. “Ok, and what brought you to Nathan?” “I’m sure hes already told you about my visions. The goddess guided me to him.” I nodded, looking at her as she smiled. “And you have not put a spell on Nathan to trust you?” I saw Frey’s eyes go wide. “As I told Nathan, when he was also untrusting, I am a white witch regardless of my family’s choices. Love spells or persuasion spells are the path to dark magic. I would never… I know I can’t say anything to make you trust me and I completely understand but I can show you I am honest and serious. I am more than willing to heal your luna, once she is able to be around me. I would do so under full supervision and even restrained if you wanted me to be for her safety. I can also scry to find the covens whereabouts once I have the relevant materials…” She turned to me, her eyes showing desperation. “Alpha… Fenn… I would never put any of you in danger. I trust her. I have told you why…” “I don’t think you’ve told me everything Nathan.” My alpha said and I frowned. How could he know? “I see the signs…” I narrowed my eyes at him. “You’re wrong…” I answered. “Hmmm.” “Nathan?” Freybelle was asking in question. I shook my head at her and attempted to send a wave of caution out to her. I trusted my alpha, but I was worried about how he would react if he found out we were feeling the mate sparks. He had already made it perfectly clear he didn’t want ‘the witch’ around regardless of if she could help us and he wanted her gone now. Luna Sylvia was a little more understanding, but her fear was clear. I was worried he would make me reject her and send her out into the harsh winter snow without anything if he found out. “Alpha, Freybelle is a capable witch and has been hurt greatly by witches too and the betrayal runs dee as it was her own family. I told you they also killed her best friend in cold blood right in front of her.” Alpha Fenn nodded, his gaze staying firmly on Freybelle. “She wants to help for her own piece of mind. There is nothing more to it.” “What about these visions? Can she show us them?” Fenn asked, his eyes darting to mine quickly. I looked at Freybelle. “Ive never been able to before, but I can certainly try.” She said before turning to me. “May I?” She asked and I nodded, offering her my hand. She took it and it took everything within me to quell the jolt from the mate sparks. I saw her eyes turn silver and then she immediately pulled back. “What did you see? Because I saw nothing.” I said. She shook her head, her face turning red. “I tried to project my memory of the night I was attacked. It didn’t work. I can only see other people’s memories and future visions when I am gifted with them. As I have told Nathan before, I am unable to force the visions. The participant must be thinking of a memory for me to see it and the future visions happen randomly without my knowledge.” “So, if I wanted to test your power I could think of a past memory, and you would see it.” She nodded and Alpha Fenn got up. I saw Frey literally flinch as he thrust his hand out to her. She took his hand, and her eyes went silver again, for longer this time. I saw her brows begin to furrow and tears fell down her face. Fenn looked at me with slight concern now. “What are you showing her?” I asked, trying to keep the anger from my voice. “What happened when the Luna was brought home…” He said, his voice a little more unsure now. “She knows what she went through. She went through it herself…” I said, again trying not to snap at him for putting Frey through more hardship. After a few more moments, Freybelle let go of Alpha Fenn’s hand and was gasping for air. I gently stroked her back to try and calm her. “I am so sorry she went through that. I understand her fear of me, I do.” She said, between sobs. Then she stood up and pulled her t-shirt over her head, turning to show Fenn her scars. Although they were fading, they were still visible. “Wait… those are…” Fenn started, and I interrupted. “The runes that were carved around the Luna, yes. However, with Freybelle, they carved them into her instead.” “Why don’t you have deeper scars like my Luna?” Fenn asked, and I saw Frey wince. “I have been completing healing rituals every night since I was able to after the attack. I am more than happy to do the same for your Luna.” She said again. Alpha Fenn nodded before turning to Jack. They communicated through the mind like then I heard Fenn’s vice in my head. If she is tricking us, shes extremely good. I want you to take are of her, she cannot stay in the pack house or near the youngsters. That’s fine, my house is on the edge of the woods, she can stay with me. I will be placing a guard around your house. I resisted the urge to snarl at him and only nodded. She will not leave the house, even when you need to leave to do your duties. I nodded again. “Thank you for sharing with us Freybelle. I need to speak to my Beta and Luna before anything else. You will stay with Nathan until I call upon you again. You are not to leave his house unless I request it of you. Is that understood?” I saw Freybelle look at me with worry in her eyes, but she answered him confidently. “I understand Alpha.” Freybelle’s POV “Well, that went well, right?” She asked me as we walked to my house. “Mostly, yes. I am sorry I didn’t mention our bond to him. I was worried.” She nodded. “I know, I felt your guard up and your concern. Thank you for worrying about me.” She said, cradling her backpack to her chest. “I knew there would be fear, but I didn’t realise there would be so much hostility towards me.” “They are fearful.” “I understand that. But your Alpha looked like he wanted to snap my neck, there and then.” She said with a shudder. I didn’t answer that. There was every possibility if I hadn’t taken responsibility for her and given my word that he would have. We arrived at my house, and I saw Freybelle’s mouth drop. “What?” I asked. “This is your house?” She said and I looked at her in confusion. “It’s beautiful.” I chuckled, opening the door. It wasn’t anything special. Just a generic living room, kitchen and downstairs toilet with two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. There was also a deck around the back that I liked to sit out on every now and again. It was built from red bricks and the windows were white trim. Nothing unusual. “Its pretty standard as houses go.” I said as I showed her into the living area. “Well…” She looked around, facing away from me. “Ive never been in a proper house before.” “Really?” I asked, confused. “We were nomadic, constantly moving around. Tents were easier for us. Then when I went to the village to study, they were wooden cabins, all on one floor. Then your cabin… that’s it.” “Oh…” I didn’t really know what to say. Id never thought myself too privileged with this house but now I felt like I had a lot more than before. “Well, now this is your house too…” I answered. If we were mates and she stayed here this would be her house and if she didn’t, it would still be hers for a long as she stayed. She spun around and her face was practically gleaming with happiness. “Thank you, Nathan.” She said, grinning from ear to ear.
