Chapter 11

Chapter 11 Nathan’s POV I had noticed something off about Freybelle since last night, but I hadn’t wanted to bring it up. She seemed more subdued than normal, and angrily I felt myself missing her smile and laugh. I wondered if it was over what we had found at the coven’s camp site but then I remembered her anger, there was no way she would be still upset about that. Then I wondered if it was me, she was upset at. Had I pushed too far when Id asked her to actually show her anger for once instead of bottling everything up. “Are you ok?” I heard Freybelle ask, and I sighed, mentally hitting myself once again for the fact she could feel my emotions. “Yes, just worried. I think we need to get back to my pack as soon as possible.” She nodded and frowned, looking down at herself. “Don’t worry, we will call at the village for supplies today and set off tomorrow morning.” “Ok.” She sighed and I wasn’t sure that’s what she was worrying about. I turned to face her, and she was biting her bottom lip. “Are you ok?” I questioned and she looked at me with genuine concern. “Yeah… no… I don’t know. I think I’m being silly.” “Tell me.” I said, not caring what she thought she was being silly about. I might have only known her a few days, but it was clear she didn’t worry often. “Well… when you told me about my eyes glowing when I got angry, it made me remember a dream I had and now I’m worried it might be a vision… and I don’t like the outcome.” I frowned at her. “Tell me about the dream.” She explained the dream to me, but the way she explained it sounded like it was before when she was going through the torturous ritual only this time instead of her just escaping, I was there, and she got mad at me for not keeping my agreement to her, killing her mother instead. “Then my anger burst out of me in an orange fire ad hurt you badly.” She said, chewing her lip again. “Frey…” I said, gently. “The dream doesn’t sound like a vision; it sounds like a normal dream.” She looked at me, confused. “We all have nightmares or dreams about things we worry about. Maybe deep down youre worried about your temper too and that’s why you don’t show it often?” I asked, taking her hand and leading her to the sofa. “Maybe… but my temper has never worried me before, not since you said something, and that was after the dream.” I looked at hr with thought. “Maybe your powers were telling you something, not a vision as such but maybe a warning? Or maybe you could feel my worry and your subconscious knew what it was about… I don’t know, but I do know its not a vision. You wouldn’t have been in the ritual if it was, and I won’t let that happen again.” I said then bit my tongue realising what I had said. Her eyes went huge as she looked up at me. “Why?” “I don’t want you to go through that ever again and you’ll be safe with me. I promise.” She smiled, sadly at me before lowering her gaze again. For goddess’s sake, just tell her you like her. Blaze quipped in my head. I growled back and Freybelle looked at me. “I promise.” I said again and she nodded. “Thank you. I…” She bit her lip again but then stood up and moved to the bed. “I can’t be close to you Nathan.” I looked at her confused. “Now its my turn to ask why?” “I feel weird around you…” I narrowed my eyes at her. “Not in a bad way.” Then I saw her face turning red again. Realisation dawned on me, was she as attracted to me as I was her. “Weird, turned on?” I asked, smirking which only caused her to go even more red. “I don’t know…” She answered and I remembered she was a virgin and the only time she had come close to experiencing anything s****l was with George who she said she wasn’t attracted to. “Explain what you’re feeling.” I said, shifting to the end of the sofa so I was closer to her. She shook her head in embarrassment. “Pease Frey, it might help me.” “Help you?” I nodded. She took in a deep breath. “I feel warm, and I don’t mean because youre warm, it feels weird in my stomach. Then I feel tingles almost like ice touching me, making me get goosebumps.” I took in a sharp breath. She felt sparks. “You feel mate sparks?” She shrugged. “I don’t know. Ive never felt it before, and I haven’t read anything about it. Honestly, I was hoping to research it more when we went to your pack.” I smiled, happy she wanted to know more. “We could always do our own research…now.” I offered, a playful mischievousness entering me. I rose up and sat next to her on the bed. She looked at me with slight anxiety in her eyes, but I did notice her breath had sped up. “How?” She asked, breathily. I took one of her hands, feeling the sparks again. “Do you feel the tingles now?” I asked and she nodded, shyly. I moved my hands up to her arms. “How about here?” Again, she nodded, not answering and I wondered if she was holding her voice in due to her breathing. I moved a hand to her face, and she sighed, heavily. “Yes.” She answered, closing her eyes, a smile on her face. Before she could open her eyes, I leant forward. Freybelle’s POV Fireworks seemed to explode in my brain as I felt Nathan press his lips into mine. This was what a kiss was supposed to feel like? I had kissed George multiple times and never felt anything close to this. I sighed, dreamily into his lips and Nathan continued to kiss me, opening his mouth and using his tongue to part my lips. I didn’t stop him and felt the intense pleasure rippled through me as our tongues connected. Then I felt his hand in my hair and pleasurable tingles spread down my scalp into my spine. It felt like we were in that kiss forever, but it also ended too soon. “Wow.” Was all I answered. “Well…” He said, a smirk rising to his face. “That’s certainly a reaction I liked.” “That’s the mate bond?” I asked and he nodded, his hand finding its way into mine again. Then I was shot into a vision as a young Nathan heard from his mother about the mate sparks then another flash and a vision of his father explaining it. They both had very different ideas on the mate bond, but it was clear how both of them loved each other and felt the same things. “You saw?” He asked, his face searching mine as I came back to the present. “I did, your parents seem lovely.” He smiled but I sensed sadness. “Oh…” I cringed, that sadness could only mean a few things. “Its ok, they died a long time ago.” He said but that didn’t stop me from feeling like an i***t. I squeezed his hand reassuringly. “Anyway, Ive been feeling that since day 1 of meeting you, but not as extreme as now, it seems to have grown over time, but that’s not how it happens usually, even with humans. Hence, I didn’t say anything.” He frowned. “So, it’s usually more intense?” I questioned and he nodded. “This seems to be happening over time… I must admit, I wondered if you had used magic on me.” He said, honestly and I looked at him in surprise. “I promise, I would never. Love magic is absolutely toeing the dark line, and I would never.” He nodded, knowingly. “I know that now, but I didn’t to begin with.” “I want to research things more, maybe there will be some answers in your writings or maybe I can find something. Either way, I know what I feel right now and ive never felt it before.” He smiled and kissed my hand, sending warmth spreading through me again. “Ok, well let’s go get some shopping and maybe we can figure this out… together?” I smiled, feeling a lot happier than I had this morning. Nathan had managed to put me completely at ease and flustered all at once.
