Chapter 20
Nathan’s POV
“Frey!” I shouted as she fell to the floor.
“What happened? What did I do?” Dawn asked, her hands to her mouth as she zipped around the counter to kneel besides Frey.
“Nothing, I think she fainted. Did her eyes turn silver?”
“Oh… Yeah, they did. Why?” Dawn answered, confused and scared.
“She was having a vision when she touched you. What were you thinking about?” I questioned a little sharper than I had intended.
“The day we first met, with Luna Sylvia. I felt bad for treating her the way I did but the Luna made me. I guess I was just going over things in my mind, whether I was too harsh or if I could have said anything different.”
“Ok, maybe shes low on energy. Shes breathing fine and I can hear her mumbling. Ill take her home.” I picked Freybelle up and she snuggled into my chest.
“I’m glad shes ok. I’m sorry.” Dawn said, her eyes worried.
“You didn’t do anything. She will be fine… Dawn…” I said, looking at her. “Please don’t tell the Alpha she collapsed. He… I don’t want him to know her weakness.” Dawn looked at me confused for a minute but then she was studying me. She knew me extremely well and I hoped she would get my meaning. Finally, she nodded.
“I won’t say a word, Nathan. Let me know how she is later. Ok?” I nodded before grabbing the bags and rushing home with Frey.
Freybelle’s POV
I awoke in Nathans bed. I don’t know how long I was asleep, but it still seemed to be light. My head was pounding, probably from when I fell, but otherwise I was unharmed and fine. I quickly got out of bed, realising I was still wearing my clothes from earlier, a t-shirt and jeans. But my socks, shoes and outer layers had been removed and put on the chair by the bed.
“Frey?” I heard Nathan call from downstairs. He must have heard me get up.
“Yep, I’m awake. I’m ok.” I shouted as I heard him running up the stairs. “I’m fine honest!” I said as he stormed through the bedroom door.
“What happened?” He asked, looking me over.
“I started having a vision, but it was interrupted by… well I don’t know who by, she was very cryptic, but she said she was the moon goddess’s sister.”
“What?” Nathan said, sitting besides me on the bed.
“Yeah, that’s what she said. Blaze was with her, and he spoke to me. I saw Nathans eyes change colour as they normally did when he was speaking to Blaze.
“So that’s where you’ve been.” He said and I knew he was speaking out loud for my benefit. “But you didn’t think to share that with me?” A pause. “Right… and she will explain everything?” He sighed and looked at me, his eyes normal again.
“Blaze knows who she is?” I asked. He nodded but looked pensive.
“Kind of, he says we can trust her, and she will be in contact the next time you have a vision. She cannot speak to me, only you and Blaze, which I find bizarre too…” He said, his lips pressed together tightly.
“Yeah, she said when I have a vision, she will be able to find me. I feel like she wants to tell me something important but why would she contact me?” I questioned; Nathan just shrugged before raising a hand to my face.
“You scared me you know. I thought you’d drained your energy again like at the cabin or worse.” I smiled and leant into his hand.
“I’m fine.”
“I made food.” He smiled. “Something I haven’t made for a while. Join me?” I smiled and nodded, following him.
“Can we go through my spell items after please? Id like to get the healing spell for your Luna done as soon as possible.” I asked, nervously playing with my fingers.
“You have everything you need?”
“I do for the basic version, which I’m hoping will work. I would need more things for a bigger spell but because her scarring is only her face and hair, I think this will work. The mirror is for the scrying spell to find the location of my coven.” We arrived at the kitchen, and I could smell an array of flavours. “That smells divine!” I sighed.
“Its my own famous homemade steak pie.” He grinned.
“Wait, you made it from scratch?” I asked, in awe. He nodded and headed to the kitchen to serve. I quickly hurried around and grabbed plates glasses and tableware.
“So, once you have the mirror, you’ll be able to find them?” He asked continuing our conversation.
“Yes, I should be able to. There are things they can put in place to stop me, however, given that they attacked me, one of their own and the signs were all over once I realised, I find it hard to believe they will be hiding anything. Probably hoping I died somewhere on the way to you. But there’s something else.” I sighed, sitting at the table as Nathan began bringing over pots of food. His pie was put down first and looked amazing. Then he brought over roast potatoes and mashed potatoes and an array of different vegetables and finally a large pot of gravy. I sniffed everything in, savouring the flavours.
“What else is there?” He asked when he finally sat down.
“Well, once I cast the spell and find them, they will more than likely be able to sense the spell. They can then pack up pretty quickly and leave, we would probably only have 12 to 24 hours at the most to move in on them.”
“Oh…” Nathan sighed. “So, we will need to have people ready down in the valley then.” I nodded, hating that it meant we would need to have a plan in place with the Alpha. “Ok, I will handle that. You concentrate on the healing spell for now. I will contact the Luna and Alpha one youre ready.”
“I can be ready tomorrow night…” I said, putting a mouthful of pie in me and sighing heavily at how dreamy it tasted. “This is dreamy.” I said, my mouth full. Nathan smiled before tucking in himself.
“Yeah, I still have it. I haven’t cooked one of these in years.” He smiled and I could sense sadness within him. I don’t know why but I immediately knew his mother had taught him how to make it.
“Your mother taught you” I said, not a question really but leaving it open for him to talk more if he wanted to.
“Yeah, one of the last things she taught me. There are others in here.” He smiled, tapping his head. “But this one stuck with me for obvious reasons.” I smiled sadly and reached out my hand for him. He shook his head, and I must admit I was hurt. “Sorry Freybelle but I don’t want to share that memory just yet.” He smiled sadly. I nodded and continued eating.
“I understand. I cannot control my visions; it makes things awkward if youre thinking about things when we touch.” I said, trying to keep the hurt out of my voice.
“Maybe you can teach me a way of clearing my mind for when we want to be more intimate.” He said, staring straight at me. I looked at him with wonder. Of course I could! I was such an i***t. I smiled, hugely at him.
“That makes perfect sense. I’m such an i***t! I laughed before taking another mouthful and moaning.
“Yeah? Well, you better teach me soon because if you keep moaning like that, I’m going to want to touch you a while lot.” He answered, his voice steady but there was lust filling the room and an evil glint in his eye. I immediately went red and felt my entire body set on fire.
“Nathan!” I said in mick anger. He laughed and I smiled. We spent the evening chatting and eating as nerves struck me for the upcoming ritual tomorrow night.
