Harry
We pulled up out the front of the alpha house in the Great Woods Pack. It wasn’t anything spectacular but I thought it was great. There was no need for the extravagant houses that so many different alpha families have. It had been a silent drive for the last half an hour. Dad had run out of puff berating me for the rogue situation and how I had done nothing he had asked. I held my tongue and fought back the countless examples of me doing things I didn’t want to do because he told me to.
“Honey, why don’t you go inside? We’ll meet you in a minute.” Mum said as she turned to face me in the backseat. Dad groaned. He knew he was about to face Mum's wrath.
“Yea. Sure.” I nodded as I slipped out of the car and closed the door behind me. I could hear Mum yelling through the closed car door and shook my head as I walked towards the front door of the house. I had no pity for my Dad. He walked right into the spray he was receiving.
I knocked on the door but no one answered. I stood at the door awkwardly shuffling from foot to foot trying to figure out what to do. I couldn’t go back to the car. I tried turning the door handle. It opened and slowly swung open. Sticking my head in the opening, I couldn’t see or hear anyone. I shrugged and walked in.
As I walked through the hallway, I could hear someone just ahead. Following the noise, I found myself in the kitchen. I watched in awe and amusement at the beautiful girl who was dancing and singing in the kitchen. I admired as her long dark blonde hair swayed along with her body. Her bare feet tiptoeing around the kitchen, completely unaware of her captivated audience. I almost felt bad watching her but she was very clearly in her own little world.
“You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen!" She sang, using the chocolate-covered spoon she was holding at a microphone. A small chuckle escaped from me as her voice cracked at the higher notes. She sashayed around the kitchen putting things away, so I took a step further into the room.
She turned to grab something off of the bench and our eyes met. Her face instantly blushed bright red in embarrassment. The chocolate spoon that she was still using as a microphone flicked out of her hand, leaving a chocolate dribble down her entire front. Including a large dollop on her forehead.
That chocolate looks delicious… even more delicious off of her. Wyatt muttered her approval. I rolled my eyes.
She is just a kid. I scolded even though she couldn’t have been less than two or three years younger than I was.
"Uhh, ahhh... I'm sorry... I didn't know anyone was here..." she muttered, quickly pulling her headphones off. She winced as she pulled them too hard.
She quickly moved around the kitchen to grab the cloth off of the sink and began wiping the chocolate off of her clothes. I smirked as she carefully cleaned the front of her shirt and her legs but completely missing her forehead. She was utterly unaware of her chocolate-stained forehead.
She threw the now brown cloth into the sink water and turned back to me, straightening herself up a bit.
"I am sorry you had to witness that..." she smirked, looking at the ground. I was trying to figure out who she was. I don’t recognise her, so maybe she is the staff?
"It was definitely a sight to see." I replied, fighting the smile as she tried to act confident with chocolate on her face.
I saw her looking me up and down. I assumed she was figuring out whether I was friend or foe. I was used to people avoiding me. I didn’t mind it.
"My musical talent sure is something to behold." She chuckled as she grabbed a paper towel and began wiping the drips on the floor.
"What were you baking?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"Chocolate brownies." She shrugged, standing back up. I moved closer to her. Something was pulling me towards her. I stood behind her, so close I could smell the coconut shampoo she uses. She turned and faced me, her eyes baring into mine. Not a hint of fear.
"You missed a spot." I smiled, grabbing the paper towel with my hand and wiping her forehead. Again, her face flushed red and she looked anywhere but at me.
"Oh, thanks..." she muttered.
How easy it would be to kiss her now. Wyatt sighed.
"Oh, there you are Harry!" Mum squealed as she fumbled into the kitchen. I could tell that she was worried I had decided to skip the dinner completely. She threw her arms around me and squeezed me tightly.
"Nora, my dear. It has been so long since I saw you last! What a beautiful young woman you have grown into!" Mum turned and smiled at the girl who was still watching the interaction. Nora smiled back politely.
"Mum." I nodded, kissing her quickly on the cheek.
"Where is your Mum?" mum asked Nora.
"Oh, she is outside. I can go and get her for you if you want?" Nora replied, beginning to walk to the back door.
"Don't be silly! I will go and find her, I believe Tim is chatting with you Dad somewhere." Mum said quickly as she pushed her way between us and to the back door. I squinted my eyes at her, she was up to something. That was clear.
"Nora?" I said, raising my eyebrows.
"Harry?" She replied, mimicking his tone and expression. I was impressed that she was returning the banter and not shrinking away.
"So you are the Alpha's daughter..." I muttered as I sat up on the breakfast bar stool.
"And you are the Harrlington's son..." she raised her eyebrows at me, showing that she was not intimidated. " I didn't realise they had an older son, I only know of Jerry and Logan and they are only eight and ten." She added, scratching her chin in thought.
"I am away from home a lot." I replied shortly. Not really wanting to explain what I have been doing while I was away. I wasn’t overly proud of what I had to do.
As if noticing my change in expression, she nodded.
"Right." She said, continuing to cut the brownies into slices. They did look delicious.
"So when do you finish school?" I asked, wanting to know as much I could about the striking girl in front of me. Her eyebrows rose in surprise at my personal question.
"Today was my last day. I am moving to Melbourne to study in a few weeks." She explained, it was as if she was relieved to be leaving. I was intrigued.
"How old are you?" I asked. .
"Seventeen." She shrugged, wiping the chocolate off of the knife and putting it on the sink.
"Oh." I sighed.
"You made it!" Alpha Theo grinned as he patted me on the back and.
