Chapter 7

1238 Words
Harry I couldn't concentrate on anything at dinner. My eyes kept drifting over to Nora across the table and then my hands gripped the seat I was sitting on every time my Dad mentioned the rogues or Mason made a snide comment towards his sister. No one seemed to pull Mason up on his comments, which made my anger more wild. I couldn't understand it. I knew that Nora could tell that my whole attitude had changed, the way her eyes kept darting towards me and quickly moving away again. I wanted to explain my mood swing and sit with just her but I was stuck in this dinner party from hell. It was made even worse when Alpha Theo wanted to talk more in depth about what I had been doing in the rogue camps. This was not something I enjoyed talking about, especially in front of Nora. I didn't want Nora to think that was who I am or that that was what I agreed with. If she hadn't been scared of me before, she would be after listening to this conversation. My fingers tapped on the tabletop nervously as the conversation continued around me. I felt like it was all a blur and I was stuck in the middle. No one tried to include me in the conversation and I, happily, sat on the outside looking in. When Dad stood up from the table to leave, I felt as if a weight had been lifted off of my chest. I needed to get out of here. I needed to get away from Nora and the confusing feelings that I had been consumed with in the last few hours that dragged on for eternity. "We should probably head home, we have a long drive..." Dad said as he moved around the table to help Mum out of her chair. "I am sure that Harry is exhausted and ready for a good night's sleep in his own bed." Mum smiled at me. I stared blankly past her without realising it. She could see that something was bothering me but didn't question me. I shuffled behind Mum and Dad awkwardly while they chatted and walked towards the front door. I walked down onto the grass and watched my parents say their farewells. I have to admit, in comparison to the other Alpha family dinners, this one was almost enjoyable. "Thank you so much for inviting us tonight. It was wonderful! We need to do it more often!" Mum smiled, pulling Luna Georgie into her arms and hugged her tightly. They both seemed to genuinely enjoy each others company. "You are more than welcome anytime!" Luna Georgie replied, grinning. "Thanks Alpha Theo." Dad muttered, shaking Alpha Theo's hand firmly. "Good to see you." Alpha Theo replied equally as awkwardly. Their grunting was awkward and almost like a display of manliness. "Oh Nora, don't forget to send me that brownie recipe! It was divine!" Mum called back to Nora, making her blush a beautiful shade of crimson. I wish I could touch her skin. I bet it would be soft... Wyatt mumbled. I was suprised at the random comment and a little bit annoyed. "I will." Nora called back with a croaky voice that sounded a mix of uncomfortable and flattered. I smirked. I watched as the family walked into the house while we drove down the road. I was back in the back seat of the car while Mum happily chatted to Dad about how much she liked Luna Georgie and her family. I rested my head against the cool glass of the window and closed my eyes, trying to block out the mindless conversation going on around me. I let the cool glass chill out my tense body and followed the white lines on the road with my eyes as they consumed my mind. I woke up to the sound of doors opening and closing. My eyes fluttered open and slowly took in my surroundings. I was back at home. I could see the dim lights from inside the house as Mum was busy trying to say good bye to Nan who had been watching Jerry and Logan while we were out. Despite them both insisting that they were old enough to not need a babysitter. I unbuckled my seat belt and pushed the car door open. "I was wondering if you were going to sleep in the car all night..." Dad muttered, walking around the back of the car and locking it. "Yea." I mumbled quietly as I followed him up the steps and into the house. "Good night love!" Mum called out to me as I walked down the hallway to my bedroom. "Night." I replied, continuing to head to my room. I opened my bedroom door and froze. At first, all I saw was a pair of bare legs on my bed. As my eyes travelled further up, I noticed what looked like a very small underwear set. "Olivia." I sighed, shutting the door behind me to make sure none of my family members saw her. "Welcome home!" She cheered in a low seductive voice. "How did you get in here?" I questioned, quickly closing my bedroom window blinds. "I snuck in. Your Nan was yelling at the boys to tidy up from dinner." Olivia shrugged as if it was normal, not a huge violation of privacy and security. "Why are you here?" I asked, shaking my head at her. I didn't want her here. If I got home yesterday, I wouldn't have thought twice. But now, I can't fathom spending so much as a minute of my time on her. "To welcome you home, isnt it obvious?" She raised her eyebrows and pushed herself up to face me directly. "I'm not really interested..." I stated, walking to my cupboard and pulling a jumper out and slipping it over my head. She is nothing like Nora. Whyatt sighed sadly. We can't do that. We aren't going to see Nora again. It is not worth wasting time pining for her. I argued. But I knew it was the underlying reason that I had zero interest in Olivia right now. "Are you just playing?" Olivia pretended to pout, pushing her lips forward and protruding her breasts out further. "No. Please leave." I replied coldly. I knew anything less than clear rejection would just encourage her more. "Uh, seriously?!" Olivia's voice squeaked with disbelief and annoyance. "Yes. Don't let my family see you on the way out." I stated as I walked into my bathroom and closed the door behind me. I hoped that Olivia would be gone by the time I came back out. I could hear her muttering and shuffling around the room from behind the closed door. Waiting until I heard my bedroom door close behind her, I sat on the edge of the bath and held my head in my hands. I was exhausted. Each night, my sleep was plagued by nightmares of the brutal and heartless missions that I was expected to carry out. I would wake up in cold sweats, sometimes yelling in my sleep. *Bang* My bedroom door slammed and I knew it was safe to leave the bathroom. I shuffled my way towards my bed and flopped onto the soft, cushiony mattress. It didn't take long for sleep to find me, but I knew it wouldn't stay peaceful for long.
