Incomplete Pages – Pari’s Story

565 Words
(Background Sound: Suspenseful music swells, followed by the soft, slow rustle of a page being turned.) Narrator: Shruti finally opened the first page of that dust-covered diary. A cold breeze drifting in from the room’s window caressed the pages, as if they were desperate to tell their own story. Shruti’s fingers were trembling, and her heart raced uncontrollably. She felt as though she was standing on the edge of a truth that had been hidden from the world for far too long. As her eyes fell upon the very first page, she gasped. Written in blue ink were lines that looked like deep, unhealed wounds. It read: "A fairy loved by all but rejected without any reason. But Varsha again adopted an abandoned fairy." (A heavy silence falls as the suspenseful background music intensifies.) Shruti (In a trembling voice): "A fairy loved by all but rejected without reason? But Varsha adopted that abandoned fairy again? What does this even mean? Who is this 'Pari'? And who rejected her?" Narrator: A whirlwind of questions began to stir in Shruti’s mind. She couldn’t understand what had happened to Varsha’s friend that was still kept as a dark secret today. Unable to contain her curiosity, Shruti began flipping through the pages. (Sound: Magical, nostalgic flashback music begins.) Narrator: On the following pages, the dust of time began to clear. The story shifted to a small, happy village. In that village, surrounded by greenery, lived a very wealthy and respected family. They had everything—money, a massive mansion, and high status in society. But inside that grand mansion, a strange silence always lingered. Mother’s Voice (Sound of a vessel falling, followed by muffled sobs): "Why, God? What is my fault? It’s been five years since this marriage, yet this house still yearns for the sound of a child’s voice." Father’s Voice (Consoling her): "Calm down. We have tried everything. we have bowed our heads at every temple and consulted every doctor and healer." Narrator: Five years had passed since the marriage, but the laps of Pari’s parents remained empty. The villagers had started whispering. Some called it a 'curse,' others a 'game of fate.' Every festival, every wedding, whenever they saw a small child, their hearts would shatter. It felt as if all their luxuries were hollow in the face of that one missing joy. The clouds of despair grew so dark that they had even stopped visiting temples. But they say when all doors are closed, the One above shows His miracle. (Sound: Footsteps in a hospital corridor and a steady heart-monitor beep.) Narrator: One day, Pari’s mother suddenly fell ill. She felt extremely weak. When they reached the city hospital, the doctor’s words seemed to make time stand still. Doctor (Smiling): "Congratulations! You are going to be a mother. The report is positive." Narrator: The mother could hardly believe the sound of her own heartbeat. A flood of joy erupted from her eyes. Five years of drought, the taunts, the endless nights spent crying—everything vanished in a single second. As they reached home, the news spread through the village like lightning. That wealthy mansion, silent for years, was now glowing with the lamps of happiness. Sweets were distributed everywhere. After six long, painful years of waiting, the laughter of a little angel—a 'Pari'—was finally about to echo in that home.
