Chapter Eight Queen Elizabeth is riding in her favourite barge along the Thames and pulls into the embankment to take afternoon tea. A small crowd are cheering nearby to greet her. As her guards are tying up the barge a man jumps from the crowd with two pistols and shoots Elizabeth twice in the chest. She falls back and closes her eyes as the guards pounce on the assassin. The assassin stops struggling as he is restrained but is laughing wildly, “I killed the heretic Queen, I am blessed and will go to heaven and get my reward.
