John Dee was a mystical Merlin type figure between 50-60 with an obligatory white beard and wearing black attire. He was an Alchemist, Astrologer, Philosopher and much more.

Elizabeth had met him when young and he had predicted that she, not Mary would eventually become Queen. At first, her fate had seemed the opposite but when everything Dee had predicted came true, once she became Queen she installed him as her Royal Astrologer.

It was no surprise that Elizabeth was thought of as one of the greatest monarchs of England, she was smart and she believed in having the edge over the opposition in any way possible, including having her key subjects fall in love with her, having a spy in every doorway, as well as consulting the stars and the tarot with John Dee.

She entered his book-filled chamber that was adorned with many unusual objects from all around the world and stopped at a table where a crystal ball and tarot cards sat, picking up the cards as she spoke, “Well my Lord Dee what story do the cards hold today?” Dee looked very worried, “Unfortunately I have grave news your Majesty. That’s why I sent word that I had to see you. It would appear the Spanish are going to try yet another assassination attempt on you.” The Queen gave out a nervous laugh, “This is becoming tiresome. Do we know when they will try? Do they succeed this time?” Looking puzzled Dee explains what he has learned, “That’s just the thing your Majesty. This is the most unusual reading I have ever seen. It suggests that someone who you least expect is sent to warn you. Normally you wouldn’t take any notice of this person but now you are forewarned you know that any person no matter how unlikely should be taken seriously.” The Queen looks frustrated, “But you don’t know who will warn me and why? That's not very helpful.” Dee is unusually flustered. “I tried many variations on my reading and even tried the crystal ball. All I can say is that the main card was female, so that might narrow it down a bit.”
