‘Someone’s here,’ Eli says in the mind-link, and then things go quiet, which can’t be good. But all I can do is wait until he can talk to me again.
I look around at my surroundings again, and I realize what a nice hotel this once was. The furniture is made from solid oak, and it looks like someone spent a lot of money on all the details, everything from the bedding to the beautiful art that now dangles crooked on the walls.
They probably spent too much money, and that’s why it was abandoned. But what’s important right now isn’t the building’s past but how we can manage to escape from it.
I peek out into the hallway, and finding no one, I sneak over to the room where I’d left Trevor. Whoever these people are, they’re not guarding us individually, but apparently, the entire floor
