The Prophecy

Chapter 7

Emily's POV

I'm struggling to keep up with Aubrey as she runs down the stands. "Aubrey, where are you going?" I look down and she steps onto the field as the players are Celebrating, the fighting pheonixes lost, so they are already leaving the field while the forest wolves are high fiving and giving big man hugs. I see Aubrey make her way to Jake and Eric. My heart starts to beat really fast. "Aubrey wait!" I shout, but it falls upon deaf ears.

"Jake, Eric" I hear her call them. They turn to look at her and I see Eric looking around. Is he looking for me? I stumble towards them and he reaches out to stop me from falling over again. "Congrats on winning the game you guys, Emily and I were hoping we could take you guys for a milkshake or something to say thank you for saving us earlier?", she gives them her megawatt smile and they both smile back and Jake says "Sure that will be great... we are staying in town for the weekend, we will just go shower and then meet you two here afterwards" he smiles just as wide and the two of them turn around and walk towards the locker rooms.

"Oh my goodness, they said yes!!!" Aubrey jumps for joy... I see Alexis and her minions glaring at us from across the field. I feel so excited I consider waving at her then flipping her off. Instead I stand there and dread that I chose to wear a plain t-shirt, dark skinny jeans and my converse sneakers with my hair tied up in long ponytail... not exactly sexy... why would he like me?

In about 20 mins they are both walking towards us, freshly showered and looking like models... "Hey girls" Eric and Jake say together. "Where are we off too?" Jake asks... "Well there is a burger joint down the road that makes the best milkshakes and burgers, we could go there" I suggest. "Sound great" Eric says with a small smile. We make our way to Aubrey's car and drive to the restaurant. It is filled with Pheonix high and forest hill high learners. We find a booth and the waiter takes our orders.

"Firstly, thank you for saving our butts back there and secondly, tell us about yourselves?" My friend pushes for answers. "Well we live in the forest just outside of Puyallup in a little community called Goldmoon. My parents are sort of the um, mayor's of the town. We own a few businesses there and I am set to take over the business, Eric will be my right hand man just like his parents are with my parents" Jake says.

I sit listening to the back and forth chatter, thank goodness for Aubrey who manages to keep the conversation flowing. We've learnt that Jake is an only child and Eric has a younger sister. They both love football, Jake is the Captain and Eric is the co captain. It is not long before the guys start throwing questions at us... "So now it's your turn?" Eric says.

I look at Aubrey who ushers me to go first. "Um well, I live with my parents, my dad works for a publishing company, this is why I want to study and major in Literature and my mom is a stay at home mom. She bakes and cooks and is just the best" I say, smiling fondly as I talk about my parents. "Wait, your surname is Adams, any relation to Avril and Dale Adams" Jake asks. "That's my parents yes, you know them?" I ask. "Well I know of them, they used to be a part of our pack", "Pack?" I ask confused... "I mean company, they both worked in our company many years ago, we sometimes refer to it as a pack" he says, but I notice the look he gives Eric who just shrugs.

Jake's POV

The girls get up to go to the bathroom. "Dude I don't think Emily knows she's a werewolf" I say to Eric who nods. "Yes, Midnight can sense that she is werewolf but he says it is very weak, which happens when someone grows up without knowing about our kind" Eric says. "Do you still feel the mate bond pull with her?" I ask. "I do, do you still feel the whatever your bond is with her?" Eric asks. "I do, all I know is I feel protective over her, like I need her close to us, almost as if she completes something in me thats been missing, other than the mate bond", I can't help but wonder why I feel this way about a girl who is my best friends mate.

The girls return and I see a slight blush on Emily's face when she looks at Eric. She must feel the pull as well. I wonder what she feels about me. The conversation picks up where it left off. Aubrey then asks "What are you guys doing 2 weeks from now?", I smile and answer "We will be in town again for another game", Aubrey looks ecstatic "that's great news, it's Emily's birthday on the Saturday and we were wondering if you wanted to join us in celebrating her big day", I look surprised, "it's my 18th birthday then too", I say. "What? That's great. You'll probably want to celebrate with your friends and family, don't worry about us" Emily says. I look at Eric and see his face drop a little. "Actually since we will be here for the game, we were not going to celebrate my birthday till the following weekend, so we would love to join you both".
