~WEDNESDAY~
“Are you dating your boss?” Seth’s question came out rather personal.
“That’s nonsense. Are you talking about our bump in at the French restaurant last week?” I suspected it had something to do with his inquiry.
“I suppose so. You two looked… intimate.” He paused.
“We’re just old acquaintances. We were there for work you know.” Wait, why do I have to explain myself to him?
“Anyway, enough about me. We should be talking about you. Can you tell me about your relationship with your parents?” I asked.
“My father is a neurologist while my mother is a scientist. They are very intelligent people which made them strict because of high expectations. They tried to control every aspect of my life from the moment I was born. Of course, they too, had their differences which led to the divorce three years ago. I felt kind of relieved when they had to part ways though because that made them shift their entire focus from me and stopped controlling my life as a team. I mean, they’re still trying to take control of my life but at least they do it separately now which leads to infinite arguments.” Seth narrated.
“Which parent are you closer with?”
“They’re both pretty distant people so I’m equally not close with either of them.” Seth shrugged.
“So which parent are you staying with now?”
“This week I’m staying with my mom but next week I’ll be staying with my dad. It was part of the agreement that I’d have to go back and forth like a Ping-Pong ball to those two every week.” Seth replied.
I cracked a smile when he mentioned his Ping-Pong ball analogy before I even knew it.
“Sorry. That was supposed to be a sad comparison. Pardon me for my insensitivity.” I apologized.
“No, you look very pretty when you smile. You should do it more often. I’ll have to c***k more jokes from now on.” Seth chuckled.
I wasn’t really sure if he was being sincere about my smile or if he’s actually flirting with me right now… but I have zero dating experience so I couldn’t really tell. I’m easily awkward to this kind of topic.
“So I want you to keep me in check if I’m really a sociopath as I claim to be. You should come to my university if you have the time in order to observe me in my natural environment.” Seth suggested.
It’s like he’s the doctor who is instructing me on how to diagnose him.
“I could do that. It’ll have to be a surprise visit though so that you’d act all natural about it without even knowing that I’m there.”
“Watching me from afar, huh? That sounds pretty interesting. I’d have to look my best every day from now on then.” The guy grinned.
He already looks his best from my point of view though. Even Ash is insecure of him because of his perfect looks.
“Okay, time’s up!” Speaking of the devil, Ash poked his head through the door. See what I mean?
~THURSDAY~
“Do you have any close friends that you hang out with?” I asked Maver.
“Sure.” The guy flipped out a manga from his bag.
“Can you tell me more about this friend of yours? What’s he like?”
“He’s a normal teenager with angst like everybody else. More hot-tempered than I am though. Go ask the guy yourself for an interview or something. He’s called Brennan.” He flipped through his book as he tried to dismiss our conversation.
“What comic are you reading?” I got curious.
“One Piece.” He laughed out loud at some funny part of what he’s reading.
“What’s it about?” I inquired.
“Look it up on the internet. As you can see, I’m pretty busy here so if you could just shush that would mean the world to me.” Maver glared at me for a brief moment before returning his eyes on the book.
I see he’s also the sarcastic type.
My goal for this session was to know more about him but each time I try to ask him some questions, he just completely shuts me out.
He’s acting like an immature kid instead of being mature enough to talk about his worries in life. It’s kind of frustrating but patience is key so I’ll just try my best not to let him get to me.
“Do you want some milk?” I offered instead.
“Yes, please and some biscuits if you have any.” He flashed me a boyish grin before I went out the room.
“How are you holding up?” Ash asked me while I grabbed some cups for our drinks.
“I’m trying to apply different coping strategies which I learned from books to keep me sane.” I sighed.
“That bad? I though Levin was your worst nightmare.” Ash laughed at my misery.
“Oh he is. This one is like a milder version of him who rarely talks.”
“Now believe me when I say that the key to opening a boy’s heart is through seduction…”
“What?!” I couldn’t help but raise my voice.
“”I meant seduction with food. You didn’t even let me finish!” Ash shrieked back.
“That’s what I’m doing alright. Hey, do we have any biscuits around here? I forgot to bring my own snacks today.” Plus, Fort finished all my food stash in my desk drawer last Monday.
“I think these grilled ham and cheese sandwiches are way better than biscuits. I made them myself thinking that you’d eventually ask me for food one of these days.” Ash smirked.
“Okay… thank you for these. I’m going back in now.” I gave him an awkward smile.
“What took you so long? Were you making out with your boyfriend outside?” Maver speculated.
“He’s not my boyfriend.” I tossed him the grilled sandwich.
“You don’t have to deny that you’re dating your boss, Clementine. Your secret’s safe with me… as long you don’t get into my nerves.” Maver munched on his sandwich.
Okay, why do people assume that McGregor and I are a couple?! It’s disturbing.
“Look, I’ve never even dated anyone in my entire life so quit your groundless claims.” I snapped.
“Okay, okay! Someone’s on their period...” The guy mocked me.
Deep breaths, Clement. Deep breaths!
