My compliance didn’t seem to have reassured him, though. His mouth was still pressed into a thin line, and he didn’t speak as he led me out of my room and along the familiar route to the elevators. Usually, we would pass some crew members when we reached the level where his suite was located. Today, though, the hallway was deserted. I didn’t want to think about what that meant.
