After saying hello to everyone, I circled back around to see Adriana playing in the sand, with Ruth, Kevin, and Wesley beside her. Wesley handed her a little shovel and showed her how to dig a hole. He'd settled so easily into his role as Adriana’s dad like he was meant to do this all along. I couldn't ask for a better partner. I just wished being alpha female came as naturally to me. I had never been interested in pack politics and had always tuned Wesley out when he talked about it before when we'd both been younger.
