Ravenna strikes again

Liora’s pov “Me,” I gestured while pointing at myself. “Yes, you,” she said out loud. The slow jam in the background got paused and everyone’s eyes was on me. I had begun to wonder how a party was organized in the house I live in without being invited. “I never sent you an invitation to this party, so why are you here?” Ravenna increased the volume of her voice. The crowd had started to murmur amongst themselves. I didn’t feel embarrassed because she was the one embarrassing herself. Her guest must think she was out of her mind because these were the same guest that were present at Selene’s and Darius’s wedding. Selene had introduced me to everyone. They all know me as Selene’s sister and Ravenna’s daughter. “Uhm uhh… I think you’re mistaken mum,” Selene immediately rushed to her and slowly snatched the microphone from her. I could see her whisper something to Ravenna and it wasn’t something nice. “She had just mistaken Liora for someone else. I mean why would she be kicking her own daughter out of her house over some party?” Selene chuckled and ordered the dj to continue with the slow jam while she gently pulled Ravenna aside. I just stood there in surprise. Why didn’t Ravenna cause a scene when Selene referred to me as her daughter. I had worried that she would’ve yanked the microphone off Selene’s hand and began to curse me to death while giving the reason why the moon goddess has a higher chance of twerking in front of the moon than her being my mother. “I’m so sorry, Liora. I can’t keep fixing her mistakes anymore. I’m tired of apologizing on her behalf. I don’t know what to do with this woman,” Selene pleaded. “You won’t have to anymore,” I took a sip of my drink. “What does that mean?” Selene asked with a curios look on her face. I choked on my drink after realizing what I had just said. “No No, Selene. It means nothing. I was only trying to say that once the baby comes, she’d have a hard time trying to be rude to me while the baby’s around.” “Are you sure that’s what you mean? Because this didn’t sound like one of your jokes. I know how you are and how you think, Liora? You’re alright, right?” She asked while maintaining eye contact. I knew I was lying so I avoided her eyes and agreed, I can’t let Selene find out that I’m making plans to leave this house. She’d just stop me again and if it didn't work, she’d blame herself for being a bad sibling and I didn’t want to look at such a scene. It was getting late and the guests had all gone home. The servants had started to clean up the living room while a tired Selene was returning back to her room. I decided to return back to mine. I sat down on the edge of my bed and drew my legs closer. My knee on my chest and both my arms wrapped around it. I used my eyes to gaze around the room. Look at that luxurious mirror. Its sides were made with pure gold. I brought the necklace I always wore closer to my eyes. The pendant was made with black diamond. I wore this everyday as it was the physical evidence of my sister's love for me. At least that’s what she told me when she gave it to me. A tear dropped from my eyes and I quickly wiped it. It not mine, I didn’t get it with my money. I didn’t get this water bed with my money either. I didn’t invest one penny into this room, so why the hell am I still here? Sometimes Selene questions Ravenna’s behavior but there’s some sense to it. She can’t be my mother. She didn’t give birth to me or raised me. I just walked into her home, took a room and started to put on the clothes that was bought with her money. I could clearly understand where his anger was coming from. That's why I never thought insult her when giving a reply. I’ve got no right to do that. Nothing of this home belongs to me. Look how depressed I’ve been since I arrived at this house. I remember when I used to dance on a pole to make a living. I didn’t receive insults from anyone. I rented my own place and try as much as possible to keep up the payment even though it’s hard. At least I didn’t feel like an outsider who was asked to feel at home. I need to pack and get out of this house. It’s too much for me to handle. Selene is about to have a child of her own. This house isn’t big enough for two pregnant women. I got up on my feet and began to pack my bags. I packed up the clothes I came to this house with and abandoned the once gifted to me. I didn’t want to be tied to this house anymore. I changed into the clothes I wore when I first walked through the front door of this house. After packing my bags I took off the necklace. The night was still fresh. It was still 9pm. If I left now I would get to the strip club by 1am. Since that apartment was rented out, immediately I left, I’ll stay at the strip club until I can get a new home. I grabbed my bag and clenched the handle firmly while running my eyes through the room. I hope her child grows big and strong. I shut my eyes in guilt. I can’t even think about her right now. I opened the door and was about to exit my room when I found Darius at the front door. He turned his gaze to me, my clothes and then my bag. In a second, he had figured out that whole situation. He grabbed the handle of the bag and pushed me into the room.
