One Decision

Selene’s pov “What won’t you stand for, mum? I tolerated your nonsense yesterday but I won’t do such today. I’m not about to entertain your useless tantrums. You can have breakfast with us if you want,” I sat down close to Liora and we began to eat. My mother stood speechless watching us eat without caring about her opinion. She’s the head of the house but she deserves all the disrespect she’s getting because she chose not to respect us. “It seems you’re contented with this sister of yours, selene. You’ll realize why I’m so hostile towards her the day she betrays your trust. You’ll know that of a truth she’s the daughter of that man painted In infidelity,” she clicked her tongue angrily and left. “Seeing the owner of this mansion leave the dining table over me is a bit unsettling Selene. I know you’re defending me and all but I simply won’t stand for this. Instead, I’ll have breakfast in my room from now on. If she doesn’t want me here then it’s fine, I’ve got more than enough space to eat in my room,” Liora said but I didn’t oppose. “You know what, I don’t oppose to that at all. Let’s have breakfast, lunch and dinner in your room. It’ll be like a fun little girl time for the both of us. Doesn’t that make it sound better?” Liora had already grabbed her plate and began to leave. “It doesn’t, Selene. This family is getting divided by an outsider and I won’t let it.” “Liora!” I called out to her severally but she didn’t care to respond. I’m putting a lot of effort into trying to make it work between the two of them but it seems nothing is working or am I not putting in enough effort? All I wanted today was for my sister and my mum to dine on the same table, is that too much to ask? Yet, both of them left without turning their backs? I feel like I’m the problem here. My heart stings because i feel like I’m the obstacle stopping them from bonding. “Earth to Selene?” Darius tapped my on my forehead and i quickly snapped out of it. “Sorry to interfere in your exclusive thoughts but I think you’re worrying too much. “What do I even do, Darius? I feel like I’ve tried a lot but I’m not doing anything. Should I just let them be and hope a miracle takes place? But if I do, mum would waste no time in trying to crush Liora. And Liora is too sweet to properly challenge mum. She’s probably got a lot of anger and sadness in her from last night but she’s subduing them for my sake.” I placed both my hand on my forehead, trying to think my way out of this but my brain was constantly failing. “I think that’s the best idea,” Darius bit through his soft bread. “What? I should let them be?” “Uhm hmm,” he replied with a full mouth. “I just mentioned the consequences of doing that but how can I rule the idea out if I don’t give a try? I’ll do it,” I said with confident shoulders. I suddenly felt good after concluding on a decision, and I couldn’t wait to try it out. When I got to my room, I checked my laptop and read through the reports I got from my supervisor. I knew what was going on in the hotel where Liora was managing but I wanted her to handle it. She’s a grown woman and dominating in a field where everyone wants you down is good for character development. “What are you looking at?” Darius whispered with a sensual tone into my eyes. I immediately turned around to find him shirtless. He wasted no time in carrying me into his arms. “What are you doing, Darius? Not today, I’ve got plans with Liora after this,” I lamented but that wasn’t going to stop him. “I’m also about to head to the office. A quickie won’t be bad to start off our day. He didn’t even give me any chance to lament. Why would he have so much energy so early in the morning? At least he’s burning that energy with me instead of cheating with another woman. After we were done, we both showered together and got dressed. He went to work and i went straight to Liora’s room. I knocked on the door until I got permission to come in. “What are you doing, Liora? Why aren’t you ready yet?” I quickly went into her closet and began to pick out a dress that would look good on her. “I’d even forgotten that I agreed to follow suit with your adventure,” she said wearily. “Freshen up fast so we can leave on time. Yes,” this dress has my approval. Immediately Liora was done taking her bath, she got dressed and I helped with her makeup. I also helped do her hair. She had really long, ebony colored hair. “You still haven’t told me your plans. I’m just blindly following behind you here, Selene,” said Liora. “We’re visiting your place. The town you grew up in. I want to see what it’s like. I know you have a lot of memories bottled up over there. Both good and bad. If you object to it just say something please. Your silence is tearing me apart,” I said as I stood in front of her while making a Mr sad face. “Good or bad memories doesn’t stop from visiting my grassroots. That town and the people in them made me. I can tell you that I’m proud to look back and call it my hometown. But I’m not sure about going there with you. You might not like the environment,” she said with an uncertain expression. “Don’t scare me like that, little sis,” I gave her a warm kiss on her cheek and she blushed brightly. “And off to your hometown we go!!”
