My worst nightmare

1068 Words
Liora’s pov I’ve been longing for sweet things these days. When I’m at work I try as much as I can to get my hands on candy before I start working and now that I’m at home, I’ve filled my fridge with different varieties of cakes and chocolate. I’m eating one right now and I can’t help but think that it’s the baby that’s making me have these things. I'm usually fond of bitter tastes like coffee. I was snacking on my two step strawberry shortcake when I heard a loud scream downstairs. It was Selene’s voice. I immediately left what I was eating to go and inspect what the issue was about. Is there an intruder in the house? Has something caught on fire? This was usually that time of the night for such things, my assumptions roared. “What’s the matter, Selene?” I asked as soon as I came down the stairs. Seems like I was the last one here. Everyone was already gathered in the living room after hearing that scream. Selene immediately caught a glimpse of me in the midst of everyone. Ravenna had been asking what she was on about but she didn’t respond. She ran to me with teary eyes and gave me a tight hug. “Is there any problem, Selene? I just heard your scream and rushed down. Your mum is already asking you what’s wrong but you didn’t give her a reply. You’re worrying all of us,” I stated. “I didn’t because I wanted the both of you to be present at the same time as I share this news to everyone. You’re going to be a grandmother, mum. And you my dear, are going to be an aunt,” Selene pointed at me. As soon as I heard those words come out of her mouth, I became lightheaded. The situation has spiraled from one to a thousand. Now my sister and I are pregnant by the same man. I had to take a step back and catch my breath first before saying anything. Ravenna was so happy she hugged Selene and lifted her into the air. I shifted my gaze to Darius who was so overjoyed, he felt like he had found heaven. My worst nightmare is coming true and there’s nothing I can do about it. Everyone was happy for Selene’s pregnancy now but what about mine? I won’t need to tell them and they won’t need to do any digging, my stomach is about a month away from selling me out. “Uh…congratulations, Selene!” I forced a smile out of my worrying face. “This is literally one of the happiest moments of my life and I’m glad you’re in it. I’m very sure the moon goddess planned this out,” Selene stated, almost wailing out of happiness. “You deserve it, Selene,” I fixed a smile on my face. The second I was about to return to my room, I heard another loud sound. It wasn’t a scream this time, it was the popping of a fine and expensive wine. Darius was that excited, forgetting completely about the wrong he has done. It was as if I was the only one feeling this guilt. A maid gave everyone a glass. Even the servants drank from the bottle of wine that was opened to celebrate. I had a glass and danced with Selene a little. I didn’t want to look too cold just leaving. I mean… My sister is pregnant. That’s a thing of joy but it’s clearly not that way for me because the man who impregnated her also impregnated me two months and few days ago. Oh goddess, I feel incredibly stupid. How could I let this happen to my family? The fact that I’m the only one that knows of my pregnancy is way worse. I shut the door as soon as I got to my room. I had been thinking about how I would tell Selene the truth about what happened between Darius and I but after procrastinating, I discovered I was pregnant. I devised a new plan to try as much as possible to reveal the truth at any cost but now she’s also pregnant. That useless husband of hers can’t seem to rest his d**k. I had given Selene an excuse to leave, I told her that I was tired. It was finally morning and it was time for our morning jog so I put on my jog fits and waited at the front door for Selene. Ravenna was sitting in the living room when I got downstairs. I was surprised to see her up so early. “You ready, Aunty Liora?” Selene said while coming down the stairs. I was about to compose myself after last night and come to a conclusion about what I wanted to do next. I gestured a giggle. “That name would suit me but not coming from an old woman’s voice.” “Hey! I’m not that old,” she pouted cutely. “Where are the both of you going early in the morning?” Ravenna asked and stood up from where she sat and walked up towards us. She passed by me while glaring with a look of disgust on her face. She finally stood in front of us with both her hands stationed on her hips. I knew it. I absolutely knew it. The reason she had woken up so early was to cause some type of trouble. She hasn’t objected to our morning jog before so why now? “Liory or Liora can go wherever she wants to go but you need to stay back at home, Selene,” Ravenna said confidently. “For what reason? Is there anything you need me for?” Selene quizzed with an obscure expression. “You’re pregnant and that’s why I’m stopping you from going on that jog. I was the one that conceived you so I know what’s better,” she said with a scowl on her face. “But that’s not the reason for her not to go out on the jog. A lot of pregnant women go out for jogging and it helps to keep them in shape,” I jumped in. “I’m speaking to my daughter. This will be your first and last time interrupting our conversation, do I make myself clear?”
