Selene’s pov

“What? Arrested?!” I jolted from my seat upon hearing this diabolical statement. “For speeding?”

“It turns out we were being followed. I was able to spot the stalker from my window at the hotel today so I chased after him. I was able to break his camera so I guess no headlines of us tomorrow. He hopped on his bike and ran, I chased. These lunatics let him go and caught me and charged me for speeding. What type of officers are these? You sure they know the law at all?”

“They let the stalker go and decided you were the criminal? No no no, I cannot let this go just like that—”

“You don’t need to bother yourself coming here, Selene,” Liora mentioned. “Just send a lawyer with the bail money and then I’ll be on my way to the office. I have a lot of unfinished work.”

Unfinished work? She’s too kind. She just wants to let this go without holding the officers responsible of letting the stalker get away. I quickly organized my purse, I reached out to my driver.

“Hello? Are you still there Selene?”

Before I could continue the call, they hung the phone. I was able to get the address of the police station so I quickly went there.

Immediately I got to the station, I didn’t bother to search for Liora, I just went straight into the DPO’s office and made my complaint.

“I suggest you release my sister and do something about these men of yours. Because I can only perceive laziness from these results. You got word about two vehicle speeding and you just caught the slower one because she decided to stop when she saw the checkpoint. So humour me this, if she hadn’t stopped then I guess they would’ve returned to the station and reported that the law breakers just slipped right passed them because why couldn’t they make any attempt at chasing the stalker at all? You need to put your men in place unless you want me to make that phone call and I can assure you right now that I’m very close to doing it. You know what I mean, right?”

“Thank you for your understanding, madam Selene. I’ll be sure to set them all straight. They clearly misunderstood the case—”

“Selene!” Liora reacted excitedly after seeing me.

“Why is she still here? You’re the one that cuffed her, are you not? Release her immediately,” I ordered with a calm tone.

“And who do you think you are to order an officer of the law. Look, I know you’re wealthy and quite popular but all those things won’t work in the eyes of the law and as far as I’m concerned—”

“You better start packing your things, you f*****g i***t,” the DPO said with raging eyes. “You let a suspect go and you think you’re upholding the law. I’d rather it be you and me, boy. Open up that cell and get your things this instant.”

I watched him as he opened up the cell and returned his keys and hat before leaving the station. He must’ve been new here. He probably doesn’t know how much power there is in money.

If he’d had done his job right by reprimanding both Liora and the stalker, I wouldn’t have been this angry but he brought it upon himself.

“You didn’t have to do all this, Selene. All I said was contact your lawyer and arrange bail money. You’re always trying to be too extra. And using your money to oppress the poor is what I’m deeply against,” Liora scolded me and it really touched my heart.

“Liora baby don’t take it to heart!” I chased after her like a lost child.

The anger on her face was valid because this was what she passed through while growing up and seeing someone she cares about doing it to someone else just reminds her of those sad times.

“Honestly, this is what I love so much about you, my darling sister,” I tried to kiss her on the cheek but she resisted.

“I’m not speaking to you for the next 3 days. You’ll have to deal with—”

She opened the back seat and found the officer that had just been sacked sitting there with a look of remorse on his face.

“But I thought he was just?”

“Please try to forgive me, madam Liora. I promise to uphold the law in a proper manner from now on,” he pleaded.

He looked too naive and unaware of this world so I decided to give him another chance.

“I’m not that cruel, Liora. I was going to give him another chance because being an officer doesn’t really suit him. Sooner or later he would’ve been sacked by another wealthy person and when he does, they’ll make sure he never gets hired again,” I concluded.

I gave him a job at the hotel Liora was managing as a security guard. At least I’ll know he’s under the care of someone who knows not to oppress the poor.

We dropped him off at his place before retiring home for the day. The mansion was peaceful because the only one that complains, my mother, was still at the office.

Liora and I talked about our day but it seems like her day was even more interesting than mine. The same day she found and chased after the stalker was the same day she humbled the judge of the Supreme Court. How random is that?

Mum returned late so she wasn’t able to have dinner with us. I went up to my room to sleep and reserve energy for tomorrow. I went to the bathroom to pee and accidentally spilled urine on the home pregnancy test that I’d been searching for.

I sighed in relief as I immediately picked it up.

“Where the hell have you been?” I asked myself with sleepy eyes, as I gazed at it my eyes went bright.

“I’m pregnant!” I ran out of the bathroom and bumped into Darius who just returned home.
