It can't keep up like this

Liora’s pov “Correct yourself, mum,” Selene said with a straight face. “I spoke proper grammar. I don’t need corrections,” Ravenna stated boldly. I just stood there staring at Ravenna while she glared back at me. “Why’d you think it’s ok to speak to Liora like she’s an outsider?” Selene asked in anger. “Joy has finally grazed the doorstep of our family and you’re working extra hard to ruin it. Why are you like this?” “Firstly, I can speak to her any way I like because quite frankly, she’s an outsider. Secondly, I’ve always been like this against outsiders so don’t pretend like it’s your first time seeing me act this way and finally, I’ve given my final decision and I won’t let you leave this house,” Ravenna frowned her face. I could see that Selene wasn’t in the mood for verbal fight or picking sides so I decided to let Ravenna have her way. “It’s ok, Selene. You don’t need to come today. There’s always tomorrow. I’ll be fine on my own,” I gave an odd smile before running off. The frustration was evident on my face. I didn’t like Ravenna very much but I’ve tried my best to help us get closer but the attempt has always failed because of her hatred for my father which has passed down to me. After I had completed my run, I returned back home but couldn’t find Selene in the room and she didn’t come down for breakfast either. I ate alone and ran off to work. The atmosphere in the hotel today was the same as yesterday’s. My workers staring at me as if looking at me had ruined their day. Then stop looking at me. The gardner was doing his Job. Matthew, the guy Selene got fired from his policing duty, resumed today and is humble as ever. He’s greeting everyone that goes in and out of the gate. Maybe I should let him know that it wasn’t part of his job but what harm could it cause? The breeze was the same. The rich brats complaining of poor service and rendering unnecessary comparisons were still at it. Today’s been going pretty normal and everything is in place except for the journalist that I chased away yesterday. “No newspaper today?” I questioned the receptionist while wearing a satisfying smile on my face. “Tell Sarah to get me a cup of coffee and tell her not to be stingy with the sugar.” I was in the mood for coffee but my sweet tooth couldn’t resist drinking something without a little sweetener. I sat down on my desk and began working. This week was definitely going to be really busy because we’re getting to the end of the month. I have to pay everyone and calculate our overall earning for the month as the owners of the hotel, compare it with what we earned last month, and then a month from last year. We need progress and gaining just fifty more millions from last month is all that progressive. And while calculating the gains, I’ll still need to calculate the loss and compare it as well. I’ll need to determine whether we didn't do more than last month and that’s not all, I’ll need to determine if we used those sums of money for something useful. How long will it take this girl to get me one cup of coffee? I quickly opened my door, almost bumping into her. “I’m sorry for wasting so much time, Ma’am,” Sarah cried. “You should be. What the hell were you doing? Making coffee for everyone in this hotel?” I angrily grabbed my cup and placed it on the table. “Actually, you’re not too far off. Some of the workers requested a cup of coffee as well so I had to make theirs. I’m really sorry, Ma Liora.” “You can leave,” I gazed at the receptionist who was slowly sipping her tea while staring at me. I know that I changed the rules and permitted workers who were hungry to eat for free but they’re trying to use it against me. I shook my head and was about to head back into my office when a blogger walked into the hotel. A famous blogger. “Oh goddess, save me. Hello there, and welcome to the Blackwoods. I’m the manager of the hotel and I’m glad you could make it here,” I said all this with a brimming smile. “Look at her trying to butter me up, guys. She doesn’t know that I'm fair to all types of people,” she said while facing her camera. The camera man looked pale and was finding it quite hard to steady the camera. I couldn’t imagine how much pain he must be going through. “All I'm doing is welcoming you, madam. That aside, how may we be of service to you?” I asked. “You may be of service to me by leaving me alone. I’ll do what I came here to do. My viewers and I will inspect the hotel of our accord. We don’t need you showing us the good part and hiding the bad part,” she said and walked in like she owned the place. I clenched my fists while maintaining my smile. “If she wasn’t a member of the consumer ratings organization, I would’ve thrown her out the moment she walked through that door.” I finished off for the day with built in rage that I couldn’t let out so it turned into exhaustion. Pregnant or not, I don’t think I’ll stop getting tired after a day in this hell hole. I returned to the mansion and decided to just go and sleep till tomorrow. I met with a party when I arrived. The baby hasn’t been born yet, it was just an announcement party. I got changed and decided to join just to be there for my sister. “You’re not part of the people invited to this party?” Ravenna said as soon as she got her hands on the microphone. She then pointed at me.
