Liora is nearly asleep when her phone lights up in the darkness.
She sees Selene’s name and immediately becomes fully awake, jerking off from the bed.
It was as if her body recognized the significance before her mind had fully processed it.
She does not open the message immediately.
She stares at the preview, holding still, letting herself prepare for whatever emotional direction this might take her in.
When she finally opens it, she finds something unexpectedly simple: “Hope you’re okay.” A simple question asking if she is okay.
