Judas’s words keep echoing in my mind, a constant, nagging reminder of the impossible choice I now have to face.
Lucas or Judas? Betrayal or survival?
I have never been so perplex to the point of complete blankness. The questions twist, and turn in my thoughts, leaving me restless, and afraid.
I can’t trust Judas either. Everything about him screams danger. His very presence sends chills down my spine.
But then, there’s Lucas.
The man who once held my heart. The man I thought would appreciate me. He has turned into a devil with no flicker of emotion. Not even a crumb remains.
These questions are driving me mad. I need answers.
I need to know the truth. And there’s only one way to find out. It's for me to confront Lucas, so I can make up my mind about these whole shits.
Left with no choice, I wait until the guard changes, listening to the heavy footsteps echoing down the corridor.
When the new guard takes his place outside my cell, I make my move, leveraging the slightest opportunity.
With every ounce of strength I have left, I hurl myself against the door, causing a loud crash that echoes through the chamber. I pause, my heart kicking against my chest.
I need to catch their attention, and that can either lead to my doom or my freedom.
The guard rushes to the door, fumbling with the keys as he tries to unlock it. The moment he swings the door open, I’m on him, my hands wrapped around his throat, and legs swinging in the air.
He struggles, his eyes wide with shock, but I’m relentless, driven by the need to escape. To find Lucas, to get the answers I so desperately need.
Maybe things could be different if we are alone, and none of those wolves interrupt us. Maybe he will open up to me.
Finally, the guard goes limp in my grasp, and I let him drop to the ground, gasping for breath.
I grab the keys from his belt quickly, and slip out of the cell, my heart pounding as I glance up and down the corridor.
It’s f*****g empty.
I move quickly, the sound of my footsteps muted by the thick stone walls. The corridor turns like a maze that seems to last forever.
My pulse quickens as I round each corner, half-expecting to run into another guard or one of Judas’s wolves.
But the corridors remain empty, silent, and oppressive.
I push forward, driven by the early memory of Lucas’s face before he turned cold, the warmth in his eyes when he looked at me, the softness of his touch.
I have to find him. I have to know the truth. At least to be sure.
Finally, I reach a large, heavy door at the end of the corridor. My heart leaps into my throat as I push it open, revealing a dimly lit chamber beyond. I don't know what to expect, but I'm ready for the unknown.
I step inside, my breath catching in my throat as I take in the sight before me.
Thankfully, Lucas is there, his back to me. His head is bowed as he leans over a table covered in maps and papers.
The sight of him sends a wave of emotions crashing over me.
Relief, anger, fear, and something else. Something deeper, something that makes my heart ache.
“Lucas,” I whisper, my voice barely audible.
He stiffens, his hands clenching into fists, and for a moment, I think he’s going to hug me.
But then he turns, his eyes filled with rage. I see it, the same stare that has torn me apart.
“How did you get out of the cell?” he asks, his voice rough with disdain as he frowns. “Don't make me regret keeping you alive”
I hate to hear that word. He has every right to keep me alive!
I take a step forward, my heart pounding in my chest.
“Is it true? What…What Judas said” I ask, my voice trembling.
Lucas’s expression darkens at the mention of Judas, and he takes a step toward me, his gaze intense. “What did he say?”
“That you don't love me enough to protect me,” I reply, my voice barely more than a whisper. “That you can't choose me over them”
He closes his eyes, a cold expression crossing his face.
“It’s true,” he admits, his voice raw. “I never wanted this, Oma, but I don't regret choosing my pack over you. They mean a lot to me”
“ And me?" I ask, feeling vulnerable.
" You're just a human. A human that has no place here” u
My breath catches in my throat, and I feel tears prick at the corners of my eyes. “Why? After all I sacrificed?”
Lucas looks at me, his eyes filled with anger. “Because you're just a human, and you won't survive that long here” he says, his voice firm. “You can’t expect me to lose everything because of you. Or do you?”
Tears spill down my cheeks as I retrieve from him, my heart aching with the weight of his words. I lost everything for him, but he can't lose anything for me.
“It’s too late for that, Oma. There’s nowhere to run. They will surely find you” he says, his face turning firmer than earlier.
The sound of footsteps echoes down the corridor, cutting me off. Lucas stiffens, his eyes widening with fury as he turns his back at me.
The door flings open, and two hefty wolves rush in, aiming in my direction.
“You left me with no choice” he says, his countenance dark.
The last thing I see before the door closes behind me is Lucas turning to face his loyal wolves, while they drag me out of the room.
And then, I keep calling out his name, my heart breaking all over again.
No one needs to argue with me because I know it is over.
