She followed everyone to the edge of the crowd. Ethan was on in a few minutes. A couple of the group went up to stand behind him. She stared at the podium in anticipation. Luckily with her hight it wasn’t hard to see. He came out and everyone’s attention turned to him. “Welcome everyone.” He flashed a smile before continuing, “today is the start of a new era for me and my company. One that I hope will lead us, and you to a bright future.” The crowed buzzed with excitement as he paused for effect. “We are going to have a much more public roll from now on. I know publicly we’ve done our best to keep out of the news. Our new project is going to change how people interact with social media. We’ve been studying it for months and we are ready to launch our own. As you may or may not know we are a very diverse company. We are also coming out with a new generation of self driving cars, safer than ever. We are working on lowering the cost to send people to space. We...” he continued for about ten minutes but Davine stopped paying attention at that point. Ethan was fairly handsome. Definitely better looking in person than he was in the pictures she had seen. He had broad shoulders and you could faintly see his muscles under his button up shirt. He had a bright smile that easily made others want to smile too. His black hair was styled in a messy way that was meant to look effortless. When he talked he commanded the crowed and everyone’s attention. The more she watched the more curious she became about why he would need a beard, a fake girlfriend. He went on for another fifteen to twenty minutes before taking questions. James let her know that she should head home and get ready for the party later before escorting her to her car. Once she climbed in she went over the day so far, her mind buzzing with more questions than she had started the day with. She sighed as she got out of the car to go get dressed. She went for a basic black cocktail dress. Until she knew better she figured best to play it safe. She darkened her make up for a night look and put on some red lipstick. Around 8pm her car pulled up and she was off. This time she was taken to a large house. When she got out of the car, many people around her were also just walking up, chatting as they did so. She smiled warmly as people smiled at her. She could tell some people were talking about her as she received some stares, but she wasn’t sure if it’s just because she’s new or if they know why she’s here. She continued to smile every time her eyes met someone else’s. “Good to see you Davine. I see you made it, you look lovely.” He smiled, complements from men are always awkward territory but she could tell he was simply being polite. “Thank you, as do you.” While she held no interest the black suit he was wearing did suit him. He smiled and she asked, “So when will I get to meet him?” “Soon,” he answered quickly, “in about 30 minutes he and some of the board members are going to give some quick toasts and then you’ll be introduced. I’ll stay with you until then, if anyone asks, you’re a friend of my wife’s that she sent with me when she couldn’t make it.” She nodded slowly, so this meant most people didn’t know. “I’ll get to some more introductions.” He gave a warm smile and then lead her around. She meet so many people and shook so many hands, she couldn’t wait for the half hour to be up. She turned around when everyone’s attention gathered on that direction as Ethan came out. His toast was first but I stayed for all five of them. Each was short and sweet, thanking everyone for their hard work.
