Mark stood silently outside the venue, his jaw clenched tight. Alexa's words replayed in his head like an endless loop. "Having a brain is a blessing, which you do not have." Furious, he finally blurted out, "Is she saying I don't have a brain? What did I say that was so wrong?" He turned to Rex, expecting support. Rex's eyes were cold, indifferent. "What do you think?" Mark opened his mouth but faltered. He lowered his gaze, defeated. "I know I went overboard, but you can't blame me. I was just so anxious about Alice's life. It's what we promised Martin." Rex didn't reply. Mark, desperate to shift the focus, added bitterly, "Still… Jenna shouldn't have just kicked someone like that. That's too much, even for her." But a different fear began creeping in as the words left his mouth.
