In the morning, Evenus called Katrina's cellphone several times, but the girl didn't answer the calls, which made him even more furious. He was determined to find her.
Katrina usually played hard to get, but this time she had decided to change tactics. A man like Evenus was not accustomed to being abandoned; usually, he was the one doing the leaving.
He ordered his men to search for Angelina and bring her to him by any means necessary. Angelina was calm in the Coldwell mansion, confident that they wouldn't find her. After all, they were looking for a redhead with green eyes, and she, like all Coldwells, was blonde with blue eyes.
"What will you do now?" one of her aunts asked curiously; the other girls had already gone on a trip.
"I'll let him suffer for a while, then I'll proceed to develop the second part of my plan, and finally, the grand finale. It will be something he deserves for everything he has done."
In Italy, Vanessa came down for breakfast, remembering that Dante had said he would be out. She also didn't see the woman who had come up to call her for dinner the night before.
Feeling comfortable in her pajamas, she stayed that way and searched the kitchen for something to prepare. Toast with jam and a delicious coffee would be enough to satisfy her hunger."
"She put on her headphones, started swaying her hips to the rhythm of the infectious music while preparing her improvised breakfast. When she turned around, she couldn't help but scream as the toast went flying.
In front of her were two attractive blond men with blue eyes, both smiling mischievously. Vane rubbed her eyes frantically, thinking for some reason she was seeing double.
"Who are you? And why the hell am I seeing double?" she said without realizing what she was saying.
"My name is Diego," one of them replied with a big smile.
"And I'm Daniel," the other guy added.
At that moment, Vane remembered that she was in pajamas, a very short and thin set. The short shorts barely covered what was necessary, exposing her slender and toned legs.
"I'm sorry; I thought there wouldn't be anyone in the house."
"I imagine you've come with Dante. He kept the secret well that our brother has a girlfriend."
"I didn't..." Vane was interrupted when she felt an arm around her waist.
"My love, I see you've already met my brothers, and believe it or not, these two are troublemakers. They are older."
Vane didn't know what was going on; her boss had told her he wouldn't be here. "My love"? Only then did she realize how he had addressed her."
"I think there's a..." Dante planted a tremendous kiss on her that left her breathless.
"It's about time, little brother. Dad was determined to take your position at the corporation; tomorrow during breakfast, you were going to be ousted."
"Well, he won't be able to do that anymore, as you can see, I'm engaged."
Vane's face was turning purple; she was holding her breath. Her boss was quite bold. She was supposed to win him over after putting into practice her cousins' advice, but she didn't expect this.
"Woman, breathe; you look scared. I don't think we're that terrifying."
At that moment, the girl took a deep breath, turned to Dante, expecting an explanation for all of this.
"Well, guys, I'll go upstairs with my girl so she can change. We'll be down in a moment to have breakfast together."
"Take all the time you need; don't worry about us," Daniel replied mischievously.
Dante took her arm to lead her towards the stairs; she let herself be guided like a robot. They were about to climb the stairs when another man's voice was heard.
"So, she's the girl who managed to catch you!"
Vanessa turned towards the source of that voice, finding an attractive man. He also had immense blue eyes, but his hair color was slightly darker.
"Hello, sister-in-law, I'm David, Dante's older brother."
Vane didn't answer; she just looked at the man. Were all the men in this family Adonises? Apparently, the photos she had seen in the information about the Damascos were from many years ago.
That's why she didn't recognize them; these guys were now filled with muscles. After reacting, the girl extended her hand to respond to the greeting, and David shook it firmly.
"It's a pleasure to meet the one who finally caught this alpha male, hairy-backed ape, ha, ha, ha."
"You knew?" The twins approached them.
"He called me yesterday to tell me. I've told the others; you didn't know because we hadn't talked."
Vane realized that Dante had premeditatedly planned all of this.
"Now we go down, guys," Dante led Vanessa to the room. After closing the door, he locked it.
"I don't understand, Mr. Damasco. What is all this about?"
"I need you to play along. I'll pay you triple your salary. I need my father to believe I'm engaged. My mother will insist on starting wedding preparations soon. I know her well; she'll do it. We'll let her, pretend to break off our engagement with a fight days before the wedding."
"I'm not going to do that," she replied determinedly, wondering who he thought he was.
"Yes, you will," Dante approached her dangerously. She backed up until she was trapped between the wall and his towering figure.
"I don't have to do anything."
"I don't usually cash in favors, but you owe me. I saved you; now you have to save me."
That was a low blow. Dante was right; he had saved her. If he hadn't arrived in time, that man would have assaulted her. Remembering his hand between her legs, Vane made a disgusted face.
"Fine, I'll do it. That makes us even."
"Hurry up and dress. The rest of my family is about to arrive; this place will soon be chaotic."
Vane grabbed a dress and a few other things and went to change in the bathroom. Dante patiently sat on the bed, waiting for her.
A short while later, she came out wearing a light-colored dress with floral patterns, her long hair left loose, giving her a youthful and pleasant appearance. She took some wedge heels and sat next to Dante to put them on. He tried to look away to avoid seeing her legs. He didn't understand why his heart raced when he was with her; he didn't like that.
Minutes later, they went downstairs. A beautiful blonde woman with huge blue eyes approached them as soon as they descended the stairs.
"Well, look at that, what a beauty. This time you have excellent taste, son. This girl is a beauty. Hello, dear, I'm your mother-in-law."
The woman hugged Vanessa warmly and then kissed her on the cheek.
"Dionisio, my love, come meet our daughter-in-law."
As soon as the woman said this, a huge man appeared on the scene, robust and handsome. Unlike the woman and her sons, the man had darker hair, and his eyes were green, not blue.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, young lady. I thought my son would remain a bachelor forever."
"Dad, you're exaggerating. Dante is the youngest of your sons, and none of them are married."
A pleasant and beautiful girl approached them, her eyes green like her father's, and her hair a mix of blonde and brown.
"Hello, sister-in-law, I'm Dina, Dante's younger sister." Vane greeted her with a warm hug.
"I feel blessed to have almost all my children gathered here."
"Donatello, your son, threw a tantrum and canceled at the last minute. He got upset as soon as he found out that Dante was engaged. He had assumed he would replace him at the head of the company, thinking it's his right as the eldest. Who asked him to be so unreliable?"
"How did he find out?" his mother asked.
"I called him myself to inform him."
"Evil, ha, ha, ha," Dina said, unable to suppress her laughter. She thought Donatello deserved it for the troubles he had caused Dante in the past.
"Let's move to the garden; it's a splendid day. We'll have breakfast there."
Everyone headed towards the garden, and Dante didn't let go of Vane's hand. She felt completely lost amidst all the chaos and urgently needed to talk to Sara or Katrina for advice.
The backyard garden contrasted with the front of the estate, filled with an array of flowers and roses of different colors, creating a colorful landscape.
They sat around a large garden table, and trays with delicious dishes were brought down from a van parked nearby. Soon, the table was filled with delectable items, all light since it was breakfast.
While they ate, the garden transformed. A crowd of people arrived, setting up elegant tents, chairs, and tables. In the background, where the best view was, they improvised an altar, and in front, several chairs were arranged.
Vane realized that's where the wedding ceremony would take place. She hadn't seen an event organized at such speed; within an hour, everything was set up, and the garden had transformed.
"When we get married, my love, our wedding will be much better than this, I assure you. You're the love of my life, and you deserve everything." After saying this, Dante took the girl's hand, brought it to his lips, and gave her a tender kiss.
"How romantic, little brother. On the day I get married, I want someone to treat me like you treat your fiancée." Dante felt uncomfortable with what Dina said. Of course, he wouldn't want his sister to find a man like him to marry; he wouldn't allow it.
