Later, Dante's parents bid farewell; they were not accustomed to staying awake until late at night.
"Hey, guys, what do you think about spending the night at the dome?" Dina asked, her excitement reflected on her face.
"Sounds perfect to me," replied Diego.
"And you?" Dina turned to the others.
"I'm fine with it," said Dante.
Everyone agreed. Darius and Vanessa had no idea where they were headed when they got into the trucks, but they drove to the top of a hill.
On this particular night, the sky looked wonderfully starry. From the top of the hill, they could admire the marvelous landscape, with the vast ocean visible in the distance.
"This is the dome, guys, a very special place for all of us."
Said Daniel, Vane, and Darius gazed in awe at the construction towering before them—it was a massive dome.
Upon entering, they observed that the roof was made of glass, allowing a perfect view of the sky. There was a large telescope placed to the side.
"Every now and then, we like to come here to spend the night with our parents, especially when there's a meteor shower. It's a divine spectacle; you have to come and see it someday," Darius said, focusing his attention on Dina's beautiful smile.
David poured wine into some glasses, then grabbed a guitar and began to play a melody. Everyone sat around to listen, and Dina started to sing, showcasing her beautiful, melodious voice.
Vanessa was enchanted by it all, unable to take her eyes off the beautiful sky. A couple of hours later, the siblings decided where they would sleep.
"Vane and Dante will sleep in the main room upstairs. You'll see, sister-in-law, it has the best view. You'll feel like you're sleeping among the stars. There's another telescope in that room," Diego said, smiling.
"There are only two rooms here. We've always shared the one downstairs, which has several beds, so that's where we'll sleep. It also has a glass ceiling, as the other room is only upstairs at one end of the dome, so we can also enjoy the wonderful view."
Darius would have to sleep surrounded by his three brothers-in-law, feeling like they were watching his every move. Of course, Dina would sleep alone in the bed at the other end.
Dante took Vane's hand and led her upstairs. Upon entering the room, she realized how beautiful it was. Dante opened the curtains covering the glass walls facing the outside. From inside the dome, they couldn't be seen, and being at a higher point made it seem like space merged with the starry sky.
In the middle of the room, there was a large round bed. Dante pressed a button to show her that the bed rotated.
"It's beautiful. I didn't think the perfect room could exist."
"It's one of my favorite places. It's the first time people who aren't part of the family have entered this place. It's sacred to us."
"I'm sorry; I didn't mean to invade your space."
"It wasn't your fault, and believe me, I feel good about it. Your company is pleasant."
Vane smiled upon hearing this; she felt like she was getting to know the real Dante. After all, he wasn't as much of an ogre as she had thought. She needed to change the name she had registered for him in her phone as soon as possible.
Dante approached the massive telescope and called her over, asking her to look through the lens.
"From here, you can see Venus. Compared to the Moon, Venus looks bluer. In the other spot is Jupiter, and the bright object above it is the star Antares."
The girl marveled at it; she had never paid attention to celestial objects before. Shortly after, they decided it was time to sleep, although Vane didn't know if she could do it—the view was too beautiful to waste on sleep.
They didn't have spare clothes, so they lay down to sleep as they were, each on one side of the bed. Vane lay facing the sky, covering her body with a blanket because the place was cold due to the glass. Dante didn't turn on the heating so as not to fog up the glass and hide the beautiful view.
Vanessa thought it was the most romantic thing; she would like her first time to be in a place like this, where the sky and earth came together. Making love amidst the stars would be wonderful.
She blushed, remembering that Dante was beside her. She turned to look at him, and he felt her gaze, pretending to be asleep. He was intoxicated by the soft perfume emanating from the girl. It was a total danger to be next to her in a place like that.
She fell asleep well into the early morning, having taken some photos and videos. She wanted to remember this moment forever. She had no idea what her proximity was stirring in her boss. He suffered all night, wanting desperately to kiss her, to explore every inch of her body. It was cold, but he was sweating.
In the morning, they woke up very early to return to the house. They hadn't notified that they would be at the dome, and the Damasco parents must be worried. Dante approached Vane.
"You have to come up with something to go back. You can't be so close to these people. Grandma is worried; you're not supposed to socialize with the family of a target, at least not so closely."
"I know. I'll wait until the afternoon and see what excuse I can come up with. But you'll have to leave first or after; they might think something that isn't true."
Dante saw them talking outside the dome and quickly approached them.
"My love, it's better if we go back."
"Yes, Armand was telling me he was delighted with the marvelous spectacle the starry sky offers. This dome is wonderful."
Dante didn't reply; he looked sternly at Darius, took Vane's hand, and headed towards the truck.
Darius watched them as they walked away; it seemed to him that Dante got jealous every time he approached Vane. Perhaps his sister would achieve her goal faster than he thought.
"Armand, I've been looking for you."
"Hello, beautiful, I've been here," he observed the girl, who was really cute. It seemed that not only his sister was in trouble.
"Come on, let's go back to the villa." Dina climbed onto his back, and amid laughter, they approached the truck, always watched by the three brothers who would go with them.
"Hands off, guys. Armand, go ahead with Diego. Dina, back here with Daniel and me," David said.
"Brother, don't exaggerate. Nothing will happen to me traveling with Armand. Vane went alone with Dante, lucky not to have a jealous brother here."
Darius was about to laugh at that but managed to contain himself. Vane did have a jealous brother, and a very jealous one at that.
Upon arriving at the villa, their parents were already waiting for them for breakfast.
"Inconsiderate children, you made us worry. We didn't know where you were, went out without bodyguards, and left your phones forgotten. I had to stop your father, who was about to call the entire guard to look for you. The poor man thought you were kidnapped."
"Mother, you know we can watch our backs. No one would dare enter our territory without an invitation."
Vane looked at Dante; was he also involved in the mafia?
"Well, let's have breakfast," the woman said, seeing the truck approaching with their other children.
Dionisio relaxed seeing all his children reunited, but shortly after, one of the guards whispered something in his ear. He stood up immediately, and everyone could see his expression change; he was visibly displeased.
"Is something wrong, father?" Dante asked, getting up to go to where his father was.
"Nothing, son. I'll solve this right away." Dionisio took a few steps, stopping when some men approached.
"Dionisio Damasco, I was waiting for the wedding invitation. After all, your nephew married the daughter of a man who is also my associate."
A tall, blond, and quite handsome man stood in front of Dionisio. The guards from both men pulled out their weapons, pointing at each other.
"What the hell are you doing here, Santori? You know this is f*******n territory for you and your men."
The man started laughing cynically. Vanessa had stood up to stop Dante from going towards her father and that man; Darius did the same to stop his sister.
The newcomer looked again at the Coldwell siblings, and the laughter disappeared from his face immediately.
"I think you should leave, this is not the place to discuss your decade-old feuds. Here is our family, and family is respected. You know the old code."
Dante spoke loudly and clearly, while Vane clung to his arm, and Darius just stood by his sister's side, not wanting to make it obvious that he had been concerned for her.
Santori remained standing, his gaze fixed on Darius and Vane. Without saying another word, he turned to walk away, and with a simple hand gesture, his men immediately withdrew.
"I'm sorry for this awkward moment, guys. Let's continue with breakfast; let's pretend nothing has happened."
Vane and Darius had many questions; that man changed his expression upon seeing them. It seemed like he knew them from somewhere. They would have to ask their mother and grandmother if they had business with that man.
Meanwhile, Santori got into his truck, ordered his driver to leave, and placed his hands on his head. He seemed genuinely tormented by something, and the features of the kids he had seen with the Damascos, he could recognize them anywhere.
That day, he was determined to settle scores with Dionisio. They couldn't keep sharing the port and the lands; it was hindering their territorial expansion.
"I have to say goodbye. It was a total pleasure sharing with you. Thank you for your hospitality."
Darius couldn't stay there any longer. He liked Dina too much, and he didn't want to fall in love, not with her. Besides, he had neglected the company for several days, and his grandmother would be furious.
Vane could also later come up with any excuse to return to Los Angeles.
"It's a shame you can't stay a few more days, son. We would love for you to do so," Dina's mother said sincerely.
"My love, I wish you could stay a few more days. I've decided to take a sabbatical year, so I'll be going to Los Angeles with Dante," the girl said with a huge smile on her face. Darius realized that it would be impossible to distance himself. He sighed deeply; he would have to be strong to resist temptation and not fall in love.
