My sister had promised to write me. A week had gone by, and no message came.
It wasn’t like her. Özge never broke promises. She had also never been away from home this long. Something was wrong. I could feel it. If Ma was being honest, she’d admit to feeling the same way. But she and Father were too stubborn to admit anything. They went about their business like nothing had changed. I didn’t press them about Özge.
