Ezra read the message twice before he said anything, and when he finally looked up, whatever softness had been in his face a moment ago had hardened into something cold and focused.
"That's not possible," he said. "If Derek was in town the night that happened, my father would know. He'd have said something. He wouldn't have spent seventeen years thinking his brother was three states away if he wasn't."
"Unless your father doesn't actually know," Mira said slowly. "Unless whoever's sending these knows something your dad never found out."
Ezra's jaw tightened. "Or unless my father's known the whole time and simply never told anyone, which would mean he's been lying about more than just a business deal for seventeen years."
