The less that Bell wanted Leonard to know, the more I wanted to expose the ugly truth in front of him.
I laughed. "I haven't brought shame on the Jones family. After all, I'm not even a part of this family."
This time, Gail was the one who spoke up. "Are you trying to disown your parents? How impudent of you!"
I laughed again, this time with contempt. "Not everybody deserves to be called a parent. If a father's duty is to have an affair and send his wife to her death, then I have to say that Mr. Jones is pretty successful at that."
