The next day, I went back to the Joneses' to pack my things. Andrew was sitting on the living room couch, looking like hell. Grace was there too. She was helping Mrs. Jones arrange flowers, and on her wrist was the pearl bracelet I'd left on the entryway cabinet. That was the birthday gift Mrs. Jones gave me last year.
