Coping with loss

The elders were even more insistent that Kaleigha find her wolf and take her place as Luna. Although since Chastity's death Kaleigha and Zion seemed to grow further apart. He still held her and comforted her as needed but all their intimate play had come to an end. She could feel him pulling away from her and she knew it was because of Blaine. Blaine was now staying in the cabin that was once Chastity’s living quarters. Kaleigha had offered him the place when he had come to her after discussing her with his parents. That night he had gone home and made the mistake of asking his mother what she knew about the Chosen. "He does not exist Blaine and it is a sore spot for your father so please do not mention it." His mother had said brushing him off. "Why is it a sore spot for him and why are you so sure she does not exist?" "She" she laughed "the Chosen is a male of Lycan descent. Believe me, I know every detail there is to know." "Why?" Blaine asked he could tell there was something she was not telling him. "Sit down so I suppose it is time you knew." She sniffed the air. "Why do you smell like a wet dog. Have you been hanging around those mutts again?" "No mother." "Your blood-sucking friend came by looking for you today. I don't know how you manage to coexist with those things. I have grown tired of this all. I am ready to go back to Zerion." She rolled her eyes in frustration. Zerion was the kingdom his mother was from. She had left when she was young because she wanted to experience life outside of the magical dome. Blaine just smirked because she didn't know when he was younger his aunt had hinted that she was banished which is why he knew she had never gone back. "Mother, what is it time that I know?" "Your father is not just a self-made sorcerer." "Is there a thing as self-made? I thought it had to be in your blood. "She flinched this was a sore spot for her. "Your aunt is of the old ways. It is ridiculous to think that." "Will we ever go back to Zerion? I have family there I have never met." She ignored his question and began her tale "20 years ago your father was a powerful God. He was banished from the heavens however when I decree was put in place." "The one that ordered all male Lycan boys to die at birth. I've heard them talk about it." "Yes, that one thing is the God that ordered it was not authorized to do so. He was the God of war. When Emanuel heard of his deceit, he was banished from the heavens forever." "Well, I'm confused so if father went against someone killing babies why was he banished. And if he is a God what does that make me?" "Are you going to let me talk or are you going to keep interrupting?" "Sorry, continue." "Your father felt that the birth of the child would be an imbalance of power. So ironically in his quest to keep his power he ended up losing them forever." "Wait mom what are you saying?" "Must you be so simple Blaine?" "Are you saying that it was my father that sent the decree from the heavens? That he is the one that caused all that pain and destruction?" "His action, although harsh prevented the Chosen from being born." "But it did not," Blaine said. "Oh, you can't believe the rumors of the Lycan wolf that is seen wandering the woods at night. It's a fairytale by now if it were true the child would have reached adulthood and his powers would be so strong it would feel like a wave of energy radiating across the atmosphere." Blaine did not respond; he simply bit his lip. "Your father has searched for this Lycan wolf and has yet to encounter him. He believes he can cipher his powers if he is found before he matures. It's ridiculous!" "How would that affect her?" "Him, it would most likely kill him." "Where is he now, father?" "Hunting, he has heard of a woman that possess powers beyond reason. He wishes to find her, defeat her, and drain her of her essence." Blaine looked horrified "you say this so casually." "Son, I think it is time you moved on." "What?" "I feel the energy coming from you. You are nearly twenty. If this is the beginning of your powers, my late bloomer. You will be strong. I don't want to choose between my child and my Amore." "What are you saying?" "Blaine you are a demigod. Once your powers reach maturity your father…. he may want them for himself." Blain was in disbelief as she just revealed to him his own father would seek to destroy him. Kaleigha was not in the best of shape, but she managed to pull herself together long enough to get Blaine settled in Chastity’s old living quarters. "I can't believe she is gone." She stood looking around the small space. Zion stood in the doorway. He was silent, but his energy was speaking volumes. 'What was I to do love? Send him packing when it is because of me that he has lost his home in the first place?' He did not respond to her at all and just looked disappointed. "Leigh, I can help you save your sister." Blaine began. "I can make myself useful." "She does not need your help!" Zion snapped. "I need all the help I can get," she said calmly looking at her love "Until I find out more about Mundora." Zion looked at her and abruptly walked away. 'At least have the decency of having an escort when you visit your lover’s living quarters.' With that, he broke the connection. "I hope you will be comfortable," Kaleigha said as she left out behind Zion. He was taking huge strides, but she was able to catch up to him. The rain had come the day Chastity died and never let up. Zion was convinced it was Kaleigha's doing as well. "Can you work on the rain?" He said as she grabbed his shoulder. She looked at him confused "What do you mean?" "Kaleigha your moods are affecting the weather. You need to learn to control your emotions or soon there will be flooding." "I can't help that I am sad Zion I lost my friend." He nodded understanding and turned to walk away leaving standing alone with a feeling of emptiness. She walked to the gravesite that Zion had put near the garden so she would not have to go far to visit her. She found Chenoa there sitting next to the small mound. She didn't look back when she said, "Hello sister." The rain helped to hide her tears, but the hurt was evident on her face. "She was like my sister. For so many years in that cave, all we had was each other. I still can't believe she is gone." "I should have never asked her to go with me." Kaleigha sighed. "It's done now." She looked over her shoulder at the two guards standing watch over her. "Will I ever be rid of them?' "Chastity had an idea she came to me before this. It was crazy but I promise we will find a way." "Don't make promises you can't keep Cat. Michael will be going with Zion tomorrow to meet the Vampires. I told him I think it's best I move back to the dungeons." "What why would you want to do that?" "He has been calling me Cat, at night I feel the urge to run and it's driving me insane. I think I should be there for everyone's protection." "We will fix this." Kaleigha in promised. "I should go one more thing Cat moving Blaine here. Do you think that is a good decision? Your mate seems distant and... people are talking." "He is my friend." "Is that all?" "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" "It means I am not blind, and Zion is not either and you are still not marked." "Oh, not you too Chenoa! Did Michael put you up to this?" "No! I'm just trying to be helpful." "Well don't!" Kaleigha snapped storming away. She went back toward the packhouse when she saw Janette being pushed by Zion. She walked toward them and noticed how deep in conversation they were. They did not even notice her approach. "Zion it will be fine I'm sure once you talk to him the two of you will come to a resolution suitable for all parties." "Who is he?" Kaleigha asked as she watched the fear flash in Janette’s eyes. "Oh, just pack business Kaleigha nothing you should worry yourself with," Zion said dismissing her. "Oh Vladimir, Zion will be meeting with him tomorrow to discuss the trade agreement and hopefully bring peace again," Janette said trying to ease her concerns. It was another slap in the face for Kaleigha though. 'You discuss your worries with another woman instead of your mate and accuse me of having a lover.' The thunder grew louder, and lightning lit up the skies. Kaleigha took a deep breath. "Carry on." She said as she walked back inside knowing he would not follow her hurt like hell. She did not have much in his room only a few belongings, but she gathered them and moved back into Emoni’s old room. She stripped out of her wet clothing and lay naked on the bed thinking of her situation. She was to restore order and peace with no wolf and limited powers. Her mother Aponi was no longer whispering the words of encouragement she was used to hearing all her life. She felt so alone. Tabatha and River tried talking to her, but she was too ashamed to talk to anyone. She longed for her mate, and she knew he felt it, but it was late in the evening when she sensed him near the outside of her door. "Just go away, Zion I'd rather suffer alone." She called out as she went to her window. Darkness had fallen and she could see the light shining from Blaine's small cabin. 'Go to him then it's where you seem to want to be anyway.' 'Stay the f**k out my head how about that Zion!' she snapped. She lay back on her bed and closed her eyes. If only she had Azira. She was fully asleep when she saw the vision come to her, It is time she is weak now we attack, at night when they least expect it. Are you ready for your revenge Mundora?” Werzelya hissed surrounding her in a black fog. "I was born ready." Mundora had been waiting on this moment for so long. Finally, the time was here. “Prepare the warriors!” Maximus yelled finally the moment he had been waiting for had arrived. He looked up at the moon and howled, tonight we ride!” His army was strong, and he knew somehow that she was the Chosen. Chenoa he's seen all that she sees. He was coming for her, but this time she would be ready. Zion awoke too breathing heavily he looked around the room. He went to the window and saw it was not a full moon. He immediately knew. He went to the door and snatched it open. Kaleigha sat up breathing deeply She looked at the door as Zion walked in. Their bond was strengthening “You saw that?” “I did they will come, and they will die.” He said to her. As she stood and walked over to the window. He walked up behind her. He wanted to say something to her as she stood naked before him the moonlight cast a glow upon her, she was beautiful. but he knew it would just be another argument. He had not touched her in so long and it seemed when they were together it was constant arguing. “I will protect you Cat that I promise.” “I know how you feel Zion. May I have Czar I need to feel his love because right now you can’t give that to me?” Zion felt defeated She watched as his eyes changed colors and she fell into his arms. “I’m losing him, Czar.” “No there will never be another for me.” “I need you so much right now.” She placed her hand on his face as her tears fell. “Do not cry I am here. Zion is with you he is just confused.” “Blaine,” she whispered Czar let out a low growl. "Mine” “Yes yours” she took his hand and led him to the bed Czar lay on top of her and she wrapped her legs around him she reached down pushing his pants down she saw his eyes flashing black to red “stop it Zion can I not have this moment” “You would give yourself to my wolf but not to me. Any man can have you but for me!” “Zion you are one!” She said hurt by his words. He pulled himself from atop of her and yanked his pants up. “And can I mark you Cat? Can he?” She said nothing just stared at him. “Exactly he said as he stormed out.” she curled up pulling her knees to her chest, she cried. Her stomach rumbled but she did not have an appetite although she had missed dinner.” She ignored Tabatha and Chenoa when they tried connecting with her through mind link. ‘You cannot think of me for just a moment, Zion my friend is gone, my wolf is gone, and my mate might as well be gone. The only person that seems to want to be near me you despise.’ ‘Is that why you're ignoring Tabatha and River because Blaine is the only one that wants to be around you?’ ‘It's your guilt that keeps you away. Feed yourself the bullshit but do not try to feed it to me.’ He cut off the connection. He was right she was the one that dragged Chastity into this mess she got her killed and now she didn’t want to face the other people that loved her. To see the disappointment. Leigh." Blaine tapped softly on the glass sliding door trying to get Kaleigha’s attention. Kaleigha eased off her bed and made her way to the door. "What are you doing here Blaine? Zion will s**t a brick if he finds you here!" "f**k Zion! He doesn't scare me." He said puffing out his chest. "He is my mate Blaine you can't talk about him like that." "Look, I can't sleep tonight. Come with me to the bombfire, let's have a drink." "Blaine, Zion has some conference he has to go to tomorrow. He has to get up super early." Kaleigha pointed out. Blaine gave her a confused look, shrugging his shoulders. With a wickedly handsome smile, he spoke, "I invited you, not him." Blaine looked her up and down. "Blaine," she thought it over. "Look have you ever partied with anyone other than humans? I promise you it will be a night you will never forget." Kaleigha thought it over. Her curiosity was tempting her "Come on Leigh for just an hour or two and I will have you back." "Fine she laughed, but we have to be back in an hour. Sometimes Zion has trouble sleeping and when he does-" "Please no more details please!" Blaine insisted as he pulled her toward him. "Wait, I need to change!' "Why? You look fine Leigh." Blaine looked her up and down this time licking his lips. She wore camouflage baggy sweats and a tank top. Kaleigha rolled her eyes and held her hand up. She went back inside and went to her closet. She pulled out the first black dress she saw. She also grabbed her black army boots went to the bathroom and dressed. She applied lip gloss and eyeliner and stepped back to look at herself in the mirror. She then turned her Sliver hair solid black and pulled it back into a ponytail. She went to the sliding door and ignored the lust in Blaine's eyes as he admired her figure. "Leigh you-" She placed a finger over his mouth to silence him. "Mate she said simply." She then jumped over the balcony landing on her feet and waited for Blaine to do the same. He landed on one knee. Quickly he stood and grabbed her hand, and they ran off into the woods. Blaine led her to a campsite where numerous different species were dancing, drinking, and making out surrounding an open fire. Kaleigha immediately found a group of dancing wolves and slid in between them. "Luna?" “Shush.” She said putting a finger on her lips. They laughed and started dancing with her. Blaine just stood back admiring her moves. He could watch her all night. The witches were actually very friendly, handing her a drink. Kaleigha took a drink and continued dancing, she felt very free as she howled at the moon. The next thing she knew is she was sandwiched between two witches, and one had a hand on her tit and the other was rubbing her thighs. Suddenly the witch that was rubbing her boob started tonguing her down. She didn't stop her either, even when the witch took her hand and placed it on her breast. "Um, Leigh, mate." Blaine smirked, clearing his throat. Before she could react the witch inhaled stepping back, she said something in her native tongue. The others huddled around her staring in awe. "Perseph, Perseph!" They all began to chant. Kaleigha just stood confused. She looked at Blaine for an explanation, but he shrugged. She felt a little queasy "what did you give me?" "Ah, blood pretty good hmm, it opens your third eye.?" Kaleigha was starting to freak out. She had a lot of feelings bubbling inside her. "I don't like how it makes me feel." She stumbled over to Blaine and fell into him. "Are you okay Leigh?" Blaine asked her as he studied her. But she was now looking past him. Kaleigha was freaking out because now everyone had faded away and she was alone. The lake was gone, the trees gone, Blaine gone! She saw Zion standing before an army and somehow, she knew they were at war. She saw him charge and even though she did not see who his enemy was she knew his death was imminent. Blaine watched Kaleigha’s eyes turn silver and she headed for the lake. "Leigh!" He called for her, but she kept walking "Leigh!" He called to her, but she was now knee-deep. He ran to her, but the water began to move. He froze as the wolves, witches, fairies, and vampires all fell silent. The water began to create a wall in front of her and as she walked into the water before everyone she began to transform into some type of creature. The water began to rise as she let out a sound similar to a whale. The water then came rushing toward the crowd, knocking them over, one huge wage. Blaine was in disbelief as he watched what was once Leigh rise up and do a flip in the water before completely disappearing. So much for staying low key Blaine thought as he stood in total dismay.
