Chapter 7

754 Words

15 days after Ella disappeared, the joint tribunal convened. The joint tribunal of the Werewolf High Council and the human authorities. Selena stood in the defendant's box, wearing a prison uniform, electronic shackles on her wrists. She turned her head, looking at Roland and Marguerite in the front row of the public gallery. "Mom, Dad, help me." Selena gripped the wooden railing, the shackles clanking. "I'm being framed. You know me—I can't even step on a bug. How could I hire someone to kill?" Roland and Marguerite sat motionless, both of them pale as ghosts. Neither of them said a word. They just turned their heads stiffly toward the plaintiff's table. Karl stood up and dropped a thick stack of case files onto the table. "Bring him in." He nodded toward the guards by the door.
