RAYNE My heart hammered against my ribcage as I listened to the loud footsteps approaching the hallway. I darted down the hallway, slipping into the main bedroom. I shut the door behind me before plopping onto the bed, pretending I had been sitting there all along. The door opened with a soft click. Reid entered the room, his scent, sandalwood and pine, filled all my senses. He didn't speak. He didn't look at me; he simply pulled his shirt over his head, tossing it into a dark corner inside the room. I kept my eyes locked on my hands as they rested on my lap. Reid wordlessly got into bed. The room fell into a fit of silence, and I could feel his eyes burning into my back. "You heard what I told Aaron," he said, his gravelly voice vibrating through my chest. I didn't answer.
