Olivia POV
Sara and I drove for hours. I had no clue where we were heading. All I knew was the name of my old pack but being only four when it was destroyed the location escaped me.
That being said something was pulling me. I could not explain this feeling I had emanating from my soul. It was all we had to go on so I listened.
After about four hours we approached a small town. In need of rest and believing we'd made it far enough to escape Kako's wrath Sara and I decided to park at a welcoming bed and breakfast to rest for the night.
Together we limped out of the car. The hours of sitting had taken its toll. After some light stretches we made our way to the white front door. It was late so we could only hope someone would answer.
Sara knocked twice and we waited. After no answer I knocked again. We were about to give up when the door was abruptly swung open and we eye met by an elderly woman with curlers in her hair wearing a robe over her night dress.
“Can I help you ladies?” she asked kindly.
“Yes, do you have any rooms available? We apologize for our late arrival,” I replied.
“Of course! You look exhausted! Come in, come in!”
With that we were ushered through the door into the quaint entranceway. Old photos lined the walls.
As I examined the pictures my eyes fell upon one that made me gasp. The man from my dream but not as a man, as a boy, stood next to Alpha Xerces.
He was the great Alpha's son. I could not remember his name but it was a clue.
“Do you know these people?” I asked the kind old woman.
“Yes, I did. The elder was my son. Sadly he passed away 14 years ago. The other is my grandson. That is a long torturous tale I'm sure you two young ladies are not interested in,” she sadly replied.
“We're running from Silver Dawn!” Sara blurted out.
Both the woman and I turned to Sara with shocked looks upon our faces. I was not planning to inform anyone of our escape but I understood why she did.
“Oh loves! You came to the right place! Thank the moon goddess you were brought to me. Let me make you some tea and then we'll speak,” the woman said with tears forming in her eyes.
The fear that came with Sara’s exclamation subsided slightly. We were brought to a cozy living room and told to make ourselves comfortable. Sara and I sat either end of a large fluffy red couch.
“My name is Katherine. With all the news I forgot to introduce myself,” the elderly lady said as she joined us carrying a tray with tea and cookies before sitting down between Sara and I.
“I'm Olivia, your son called me Liv, and this is Sara,” I replied.
“You're Liv! My grandson Kade would speak of you often before he went into hiding! I cannot believe you are here!”
“I know where he is. Well, I think I do. We need to find my old pack, the Golden Moon pack. It was destroyed shortly before the great Alpha, your son, was killed. Do you know where it is?” I asked.
“No, sweetheart, I do not but Kade, my grandson, left me a clue in case I ever needed him.”
With that Katherine stood up and made her way over to a book case on the far side of the living room. She grabbed a small wooden box from one of the lower shelves before joining us again on the couch.
“Take this. He had it enchanted. It will point you in the right direction.”
Katherine gave me the small box and I proceeded to open it with caution. Within was an antique compass. As I picked it up the hands began to spin.
“I knew you were the one!” Katherine exclaimed.
“The one?” Sara questioned.
“Kade told me about Olivia, as I said but he also told the words of an Oracle. You will do great things young Liv. But that is for you to find out on your own. For now, let me get you both set up in a room and you can begin your journey in the morning.”
