Rhyett's Point of View I had worn two hoodies and a jacket as I wrapped my arms around my body, rubbing myself, almost trying to create warmth in the frozen coldness of this please. We were walking up the steps of the seating area in the ice rink to try and search for the perfect spot, so we could have a great view of the game. It felt so good to be spending time with Xander again. Xander made things feel normal for me, making me forget all about the magic world. I just needed a break from my thoughts for a while and Xander made me not think about anything besides him and what we have. I'm so happy to know that he didn't have plans tonight and that he had decided to give me a chance to make up for lost time. "You want my jacket?" He smiled turning around to face me as we then heard a voice pulling our attention "He Xan!" A guy in a blue beanie had yelled as he waved his arms about trying to catch Xander's attention "Over here! Maverick told me to keep you guys these seats!" He yelled and then I glanced down at the rink to see all of the players warming up before the game, we were an hour early but still this place was packed. I didn't know Ice hockey was such a big thing in this school. I saw Mav's skating around on his little skates with a serious look on his face as he had dragged the hockey stick along the bed of ice and then pulled out a cigarette before spitting his gum out over the barrier of the rink as the coach reprimanded him but he didn't seem phased and then handed the box of cigarettes to some guy sitting on the bench, nodding at him as if to signal that he wanted his cigarettes back after the game. "Thanks man." I noticed my fingers reach for the sleeve of Xander's jacket as he had thanked the guy for keeping us a spot while we had moved passed the row of people to claim our seats. These seats were perfect, not too close to the rink and not too high up. The view of the game was going to be perfect from here. Thanks Mav's. I sat down beside Xander as he smiled making himself comfortable in his seat and had then stared straight ahead to look at Maverick who was looking at him. Xander then laughed as I twisted my neck to see Maverick do a cute ballerina spin on the ice as Xander commented "My boy's such a clown sometimes." Bursting out in laughter as we both saw Mav's smirking before he had noticed Beth standing by the barrier waiting for him in a white fury two piece seat. He had then skated up to her, They greeted with a kiss. "Maverick does have his days." I agreed with Xander as I felt him put his arm around me and had rested it on the top rim of the seat. Did he just make a move. I wasn't expecting this. He made a move. That's a total move. "You guys seem really close lately." He said and then I smiled, Xan's jawline is perfect "yeah I practically had to force him to be my friend but I think we finally are." I glanced at his face to notice his hair was out of place and then attempted to neaten it with my fingers as he laughed "yeah Maverick isn't the type to really have female friends, I'm kinda shocked that his finally found that. I think it's good for him. Your friendship with him." He nodded. "You do? Why?" I asked curiously and then he shrugged "I don't know, I think before you came New York Maverick had seemed so caught up and trapped in his head, he didn't let anyone in. But now his becoming more of his old self again, he laughs more and he even cracks jokes from time to time." He chuckled and then I grinned. "Well I'm glad I can help." I said and then he smiled his adorable smile and then changed the subject as the players had exited the rink to get changed into the gear of the game. "But on another note, why haven't I heard anything from my girl this weekend?" He asked cockily and then I rolled my eyes playfully. "Oh, I'm your girl?" I was trying to flirt. I don't think I'm really good at it. "Yeah." He shrugged "I can't stop thinking about you and I just want to be with you all the damn time. This weekend was nuts, I wasn't sure if I should just give you space or if I should just chain text you." He laughed feeling a little embarrassed and I thought this was the cutest thing ever. Look at his red little cheeks. "I was going through something." I said and I was, the Maverick thing. "I just needed space to gather myself, but I'm okay now." I assured him and then he nodded "if you ever need anyone to ever talk to, know that I'll always be here." He was so sweet. My heart began warm at the mention of his words. "Thank you. I really appreciate that." I smiled small. Why are the people in New York so much nicer than the people in Cali. Xander was so different to anyone I had met. He was so kind and I often felt like I didn't deserve him. He began to rub my arm with his thumb and then I nervously rested my head on his shoulder. Okay girl, you confident now and so was he. Xander was being affectionate and I hope he doesn't stop. This was nice. I inhaled and then I felt his lips press against my hair as he gave me a tiny kiss on the head. I smiled internally doing a celebratory robot on the inside with my eyes pointing at the rink as I tried to keep my cool. I really do like him, I shouldn't shut him out. He's just trying to be close to me and I never knew how much I liked being close to him, Until now. I felt his free hand grip mine as he intertwined our fingers into each other. My breathing irregular as I swallowed and tried to keep my cool but it was hard, he was so handsome and... Oh my god, what am I going to wear to our wedding. I smiled at my little joke but, I knew deep down that my joke maybe had a little pinch of seriousness. Maverick's Point of View I felt the coldness of the ice seeping through the openings of my helmet as I stood in place waiting for the game to start. I inhaled deeply as I had heard Lincoln speak from behind me, "Party at my house after the game gents, let's f**k this up." He sounded chipper as I glanced up to the stands to see my girl wearing that sexy outfit for me, and I don't mind blowing off Lincoln's party to get her in my bed tonight. She's so f*****g hot. I'm lucky. I smirked knowing that she was all mine and only mine, and then noticed Rhyett and my boy Xan cuddling each other and laughing in their seats, I licked my lips seriously. Wait... I did a double take. the f**k? Are they holding hands. Since when do they f*****g hold hands and since when does she f*****g smile like that. Can she stop smiling like that. Rhyett stop smiling. I looked away because honestly I didn't like that s**t and I didn't understand why. My jaw stiffened as I adjusted my mouth guard and gripped my gloves tightly around my hockey stick. Focus Maverick. You're the centre you need to get your s**t together. I spoke to myself as I shook off my thoughts of Rhyett and Xan looking all cozy while my eyes stared dead at the person in front of me, my enemy and.. No, Is that Matthew Dunn from our rivaling school, I didn't see him during warm ups and I didn't even know he played. Beth's ex. The referee then stands between the two of us as Matthew eyes light up in smugness but mine refuses to show him any sign of emotion. Can this evening her any f*****g worse. The rubber puck sits in the hands of the referee and then, in time that had moved in slow motion, he had dropped it to hit the ice and in one quick swift slice of my hockey stick I had bolted the puck over to Diego who was on my right as the defenders had moved strongly into play, while Matthew came sliding over towards me as he had noticed that Diego had hesitated to pass the puck back to me. My feet had pushed me forward as if I was running on the ice. I could hear the crowd scream as people had gotten onto their feet. My mind frazzled as I inhaled and exhaled deeply and then it felt like my brain was being melted by acid. I screamed and then fell onto the ice I could feel the rush of my players coming towards me as the game had stopped. The referee was in the corner of my eyes before I had shut them, yelling in pain as if I was being murdered. There was a ringing sound in my ears blasting in full volume. What the f**k is happening to me. "Maverick!!" I heard Diego as I felt hands taking off my helmet "Can you hear me man!? What's wrong!? are you okay!?" I heard voices that sounded like a faint echo as the ringing had fought to drown it out. "Maverick!" I heard a female voice and then opened my eyes to see Beth running towards me, she kneeled down as medics rushed onto the ice. "Everyone step away from him!" I heard a dominant sound of a male voice I had assumed was the medic in charge. "Let me on ice!" I heard any other voice and then shifted my head to see Rhyett fighting her way through to reach me. She was ruthless with the look of determination in her eyes. I needed to talk to her. This was a supernatural issue and only she could help me right now. "f**k!!" I screamed in agony as my gloves were pulled off. "Maverick!" She shoved people aside, pushing them like they standing between her and the last pizza on earth as I saw a blur of red flashes of light. She was here, close to me I could feel her. "My head! The locker room, my phone. Call Kenzo!" I managed to say as I felt my body being lifted into the air. I wasn't sure of what the f**k was happening but before I could fight everyone off me I had felt my body growing weak and then, it was black, Everything was black. Rhyett's Point of View. "Where are you going!?" Nixon had ran after me as I bottled towards the stairs that would take me below ground and into the Ice hockey locker rooms. "I need to get Maverick's phone." I said in a hurry as only the two of us were here alone as my eyes browsed around. Shit. I- "I don't understand. He'll be okay the medics are going to take care of him." He said as if I was overreacting because he didn't understand. "Look! I really can't do this right now. What's maverick's locker number!?" "Rhyett! He's going to be okay. Calm down!" He yelled gripping shoulders as I broke free from his hold. "Xander!! The number!!?" I screamed and then he answered. I don't want anything to happen to Maverick. I care about him and I- "27" he admitted and then I opened his locker trying 0104 as the combination to the lock and then it had popped opened. January 4th. His birthday. I remember he had told me this the night he had driven me home from the forest after everything had happened. I pulled out his phone and then used the same digits to unlock it. Boy's really have one password for everything. I scrolled through his call list and had then seen Kenzo's name, but knew that I couldn't make this call with Xander standing here. "Can you go check on Maverick? I'll be right out." I asked him nicely and then he pinched his brows together. "I don't know what is going on, but I don't like all of these secrets and when Maverick is okay. I want answers." He said seriously and then I nodded. I hate this, the look on Xan's face. I felt like I was loosing him in some way, but I didn't have time to think about this. Maverick needed me. "Okay. Now please, go check on him." I said and then he rolled his eyes before walking away as I watched his feet travel up the staircase. I hate myself for doing this to Xan. I hit call. I listened to it ring but I think my heartbeat was louder, come on Kenzo answer! "Brother?" I heard a mainly calm voice. "No, Rhyett." I corrected him "Kenzo! Something is wrong with Maverick! He was okay and now he's not! He collapsed to the floor and started screaming, something is wrong with his head. I-" I tried to speak but I couldn't get all of the information out fast enough and then Kenzo had cut me off. "He's ascending, he should have ascended at 16 but he never did and I-." He paused and stopped himself to focus on the issue "listen get him to a quiet space. Turn off all of the lights and fill the room with lit candles he needs to absorb the energy." "I can't! The medics took him off the rink!" "Rhyett! Listen to me. Stay at the rink, I'll be there shortly I have a witches elixir for him to drink. I'll get it there in 10 minutes! Make sure that they don't draw any of his blood. His molecular structure is different! They'll take him!" "Got it!" I inhaled rushing up the staircase to find him as I hung up. Maverick please be okay, Because I wouldn't be if anything ever happened to you.
