Chapter 22 By the time I reached the first level, my class was gone. I had hoped maybe Kyer or Brin would have waited for me, but no—I was alone. I went straight for the room where I had been before I was taken away by the Officers only to find it empty. On my way to the lobby doors, I ran into our guide. “Where’d they go?” I asked without preamble. She jumped as if startled, then frowned down at me. “It’s late, you know,” she said. “You better get on home if you don’t want to be caught out after curfew.” “Can you give me a note?” I asked.
