Later that evening, I tried searching my console for information on how to cross over the track. I didn’t want anyone to figure out what I was trying to do—did they monitor our consoles, too? I suspected they did—but every link I found was overly vague. The Colony was on an island, yes. Surrounded by salt water, yes. The Elder Center was outside the track, as was the Collection Center, yes. But apparently no one had ever gone over the wall before.
Or had they?
Last week, I hadn’t thought anyone ever missed a pill before. But I was wrong about that, so maybe I was wrong about this, too.
Were there screens on the outside wall? Did Monitors watch the sea and the sky?
If we were the only Colony, why would they bother to do that?
