Alexis rolls her eyes where she is standing next to her mother, Luna Ann and her mother’s new husband Alpha George. She is radiating frustration, standing in an empty hallway lined with guards in the castle of Alpha King Phillip, waiting to be ushered into the reception area where they will be received by the Royals.
Her eyes scan the surrounding hallway once again, taking in the beautiful tapestry’s and portraits lining the one wall. Most depicting the beautiful landscape of the surrounding Kingdom. The opposite wall is mostly glass, letting in light and giving new arrivals a prime view of the village and surrounding vista below.
“Stop fidgeting Alexis” Luna Ann says exasperated. “We’ve only been waiting for 5 minutes.”
Alexis huffs out a breath and sullenly looks at her mother, saying: “ I still don’t understand why you need me to be here. They don’t care who I am. Nobody is going to miss me. I might as well be home doing something useful.”
Now it is her mother’s turn to roll her eyes. “ We’ve been over this Alexis. You are of age now. You need to be present and show your due respect to the Alpha King and his family. His son, the prince and future Alpha King is having his 21st birthday celebration. We can not disrespect them by not showing. And who knows, maby you might even meet your future mate....”
Alexis is about to protest when Alpha George pins her with a withering stare. Brooking no argument. She looks away irritably just as the large wooden doors in front of them swing open.
