"Oh my god! I can't believe you did that, that was awesome! He didn't even touch you, I'm totally blown away," Karine gushed, wrapping her arms around the taller girl. Her eyes widened as she felt her Alpha stiffen against her. Oh no. Ever the social butterfly, Karine often forgot not everyone likes being touched by people they just met. As much as she wanted to become friends with Mila, she did have to remember and respect that Mila is her Alpha first.
"I'm so sorry, Alpha. Please forgive me," she begged, bowing her head until she felt her neck scream out in pain. "I am just ecstatic to see you won in good health."
"Don't worry about it Karine, it's actually quite nice to have some positive contact," Mila replied after mulling over her feelings on it for a brief moment. Karine straightened with a toothy smile on her face, quite pleased to hear her Alpha was responding well to her initiation of friendship. It was obvious to everyone that Mila had been through a lot, yet despite all that she was still clearly so strong. It wasn't just that she'd killed a wolf with her bare hands, but also the way that she carried herself - like an old timey queen of the the people which somehow fit in during their modern times. She looked like a warrior goddess with fire for hair flowing behind her as she expertly dodged that wolf. Karine was sure nobody in the pack would shed tears for him - he was one of Ivan's flunkies who was always being sexist and entitled, often joining in on abusing the Omegas. Stepping back, she shot a dark look at the man standing off to the side glaring at her Alpha. He was another member of Ivan's close crew, and Karine didn't care for him much either.
"Unless I get to watch the two of you kiss, I'd quite like to get on with our fight," he snarled. Growls echoed from the pack at the disrespect and Alexi stepped forward, his eyes darkening as he stood between the jerk and the women.
"Watch your tongue Alek," he warned, taking another step forward. "If you disrespect my mate again, I'll rip it from your mouth." Gone was the friendly Alexi people saw most of the time. This was Beta Alexi, and not someone to be trifled with. He'd trained hard for years in order to beat out Ivan's flunkies and try to provide some semblance of safety to the pack. Originally he was intending to eventually take Ivan on as well, but after learning what he'd done to be able to beat Alpha Petrov he knew there was no way he'd live through the fight. But somehow this girl had done it, and Alexi found himself surprised by the strong amount of loyalty he already felt towards this much kinder and more deserving Alpha.
"Oh you won't have to worry about that," Alek drawled. Mila was glad to finally have a name to put to this very punchable face. "Once I kill this b***h and become Alpha, I'm going to cripple you, chain you up, and let you watch as I show your girl what a real man can do in the sack. Then I'm going to exile you, keep your woman, then wake up every morning and laugh while I think of you suffering as I bang her." Adding insult to injury, Alek shot Alexi a wink just before the latter male was flying towards the offender.
Mila was in front of her challenger before Alexi's feet had even had time to leave the ground, her hand wrapped tightly around his throat and her face mere millimeters away as she snarled in his face. "That's enough, your challenge is with me and you will not be starting fights with my pack members over problems that do not exist. Since it appears your friend was not enough of a message, let me make an example out of your for those that are leaving to tell the other packs about. Shift!"
Alek's eyes widened as he was dropped to the ground, his body shifting of it's own accord. His wolf was afraid of her! It had already accepted Mila as the Alpha, and his heart dropped to his stomach as he knew this fight wouldn't be as easy as he'd thought. It was hard for a human to take control once their wolf had forced the shift. They often acted on instinct, and against a critically thinking opponent such as his, that was not something he could afford to let happen.
However, Alek's wolf was not as foolish as he thought. Rather than rushing right in as the last had, he instead crouched low to the ground, slowly circling around Mila as she took up a defensive stance. Her eyes never left the large brown wolf in front of her, studying each step he took for that extra muscle twitch indicating an attack. Once he thought he had seen an opening, Alek jumped forward, nipping at her right leg. She jerked back at the last second, narrowly avoiding meat tenderizers he called teeth and following up with a quick punch to his eye. He jumped back, shaking his head before coming in to nip at her leg again, only this time jumping past her, quickly rebounding off the ground and sinking his teeth into her raised arm.
Shocked gasps filled the field, but no sound came from Mila's lips as she thrust her other arm out, punching him in the side of the head. This did nothing but cause him to growl and bite down harder, blood beginning to pour from her arm rather quickly. Mila quickly drew her arm back and went in for another punch to the head. Many held their breath, worried this would be the shortest reign ever until a long, agonized howl left the wolf. He was a rocket as he launched away from her, whimpering and snarling at the same time. Shocked gasps left the crowd once more as they discovered the cause of all the blood that covered his face.
Mila had gouged his eye out.
At the last moment before making contact, she had stuck her thumb out, cleanly placing it near the tear duct and scooping his eye out like it was the most natural thing in the world. While it wasn't something she took pride in, she had to do what she had to do to survive. This was a fight to the death, and both parties were ready to do whatever it took to win.
Knowing she had him on the run, Mila took up the offense, charging directly at him. The wolf feigned leaping away, only to turn around and grab her by the leg, dragging her to the ground. His teeth dug straight to the bone as he shook his head, tearing the flesh in her leg into mince meat. It took everything Mila had not to scream. She was dedicated to not showing any pain in front of her pack, even if it did feel like she'd been run through a woodchipper.
Seeing that Mila had lost a lot of blood and was probably getting tired by now, Alek released her leg and stepped forward, his snout hovering just over her face. His breath was hot and heavy as he snarled down at her, saliva dripping on her face. He growled again, seeing that look in her eye that had also infuriated Ivan before him - Mila wasn't afraid. Here was this girl in her human form with a broken leg and arm, a wolf mere centimeters away from eating her face off, and she had the gal to be all casual about it?
Just as he was about to act on the violent thoughts playing in his head, Alek let out a surprised and pained howl as he felt a huge pop and rush of pain in his hip. That little b***h had dislocated it, he realized as he felt her foot make contact with his chest and send him flying through the air.
She's amazing! Mila's wolf thought to herself as she watched her human swiftly grab her enemy's back paw and land a heavy kick to the side of his pelvis while pulling his leg towards her chest, instantly dislocating it before kicking him away like it was nothing.
Alek's depth perception was all off with the loss of his eye, and his dislocated leg buckled underneath him as he landed. He was going to die here, he knew it. His eyes frantically looked around, rage and panic consuming his heart. He was the one who was supposed to take the title from Ivan after he'd given him his own shot, it wasn't supposed to go to some random girl nobody knew! How could this happen? Alek snarled to himself, his resolve growing. If he couldn't have the pack, he would make Mila pay for taking it from him.
His single remaining eye narrowed as he locked on to the blonde haired girl that seemed to have befriended the Alpha already. Karine seemed to be his best chance of hurting the Alpha, and maybe he could take out her Beta as well before he died. Alek never did like the little punk. He took off towards Karine, his mouth wide open as he aimed to tear out her throat.
The only sound that filled the air was Alek and Alexi's guttural snarls, the rest of the pack sitting in stunned silence as the large wolf flew towards Karine's terrified face. Alexi tried his hardest to get to mate. But he was too late...
Mila had beaten him there, and her hands quickly locked on each of Alek's jaws, stopping him in place midair. Ignoring the blood gushing from her arm and now her hands, Mila kept her hold on his jaws as his body slammed to the ground. With a quick twist, Mila mounted his back, letting out a primal roar as she began pulling his jaws further apart. His heartbeat quickened, and he tried standing only to drop to the ground again as Mila kicked at his dislocated hip as if she was trying to kick in a door. She continued pulling his jaws past their limits, skin and fur tearing at the corners.
Alek couldn't stop himself and began to howl in agony, his pulse beating it's death march as he felt his lower jaw completely dislocate. He was going to die here in the dirt, beaten by some girl who hadn't even turned into her wolf form. It was pathetic, and his whole being was filled by fear, shame, and pain.
Mila's was filled with nothing but rage and determination, and it wasn't long until she let out another deafening roar, pulling down with all her strength, completely separating Alek's jaw from his skull and causing her to be drenched in a dead man's blood for the second time today. His legs gave one final twitch as a pool of blood thickened the dirt around his body.
Throwing her head back, Mila's roar became something different this time - a howl. Shock covered Mila like she'd been dumped in an ice bath as she felt that familiar pop, followed by the feeling of her hair growing quickly to cover her stretching skin as her bones shifted into their alternate formation. Standing beside her kill was Mila's wolf.
Two thousand howls sounded back in return as the pack quickly shifted and surrounded their Alpha, all marveling at her victory and beauty. Her wolf was huge. She stood a good eight inches taller than Alexi, the tallest of the others in the pack, and was about the size of a cow or small horse. Her fur was dark black on her back, head, and the tops of her legs, elegantly fading into grey, red, brown, and white as it reached towards her face, toes, and tail. Her eyes lit up animatedly as she took in her pack around her.
Just earlier today, Mila had no family. She was utterly alone and tortured with nobody to care about or help her. But now she had a whole pack as a family, and seeing the trust and admiration in their eyes made her feel all warm inside in ways she didn't even know were possible. She felt even warmer as she felt her mind connecting with everyone in the pack. While she'd declared Ivan as her Alpha, he'd commanded her to close her link to each pack member, and the connection had snapped when they forgot about each other. Love and praises filled her head as the pack slightly overwhelmed her with their presence in her mind.
"I'm sorry I doubted you," came Mila's wolf in their mind. "You make a terrific Alpha, even without me. I accept you, Mila Petrova as my only Alpha. I will never question you again, I promise." Mila felt a rush of pride when her wolf spoke the line all wolves speak in their heart to accept an Alpha. It normally wasn't something your own wolf told you as your wolf was the Alpha as well. This was so special, because Mila's wolf was recognizing her as the supreme being as a human. It was just as unheard of as being a female Alpha.
"We make a great Alpha," Mila replied. "I'm just glad to have you back."
"And I am glad to be back. May we never be parted again."
Despite the stress of the whole day, her broken arm, and her broken leg, there was only one thing Mila wanted to do in that moment - run with her pack. Mila turned towards the woods and with a howl began to lead the way. Most of the pack joined in with howls of their own, zipping around excitedly as they prepared for this bonding experience with their Alpha. Her eyes however, quickly turned back to the Omegas still standing in the field, dismay at being left out rolling off them in waves. Mila quickly turned around and trotted back, standing in front of them, looking them all in their worried eyes as they wondered if they'd upset her.
"I want to reiterate what I said earlier," Mila started through the pack link, making sure everyone could hear her. "We are one. There are no more Omegas. Everyone is equal. We all live under the same moon, and it's time we as a race act like it. This is the beginning of many changes my dears. Embrace it, and be yourself," she coaxed.
The former Omegas looked around at each other for a moment until Mila howled, and they all eagerly howled in response. The field and forest was filled with a symphony of howls as the whole pack made their way into the woods, together as one.
