Chapter 9

Ugh, just when I was trying to finish the research. Toma just looked at me with a friendly face. "Why didn't you do anything to get out of here?" I asked. "Oh, I actually did. I yelled for help, tried to make a lot of noise, and even put a note underneath the door so someone can help me… but none of those works." So the stupid note earlier was his doing. I sighed feeling helpless. "Tsk, what to do, what to do…" then I suddenly thought of my phone. I searched it in my pocket, only to realize that I left it back at the classroom. Damn it. "Toma!" "!… yeah?" He spoke while maintaining that smile of his. Ugh, his face right now looks annoying. "Do you got your phone with you?" "Ahh… I've thought about that too but uhm, I left it with Cami." "What!?" "Yeah, she asked to look at it. She's checking out the pictures we've taken together." "Tsk. Nevermind." "What about you?" "I left it at the classroom." "Oh…" "…tsk, let's just wait until someone comes to get us." "Okay." "…" "Heh… somehow, this feel like deja vu." He suddenly brought up. "How so?" "Remember the time when we were kids? We were playing at school and got ourselves locked at the library." Remembering that made me laugh a little. I do remember it, it was just like this… we were stuck together for hours then the school guard found us. "It was fun." I said, smiling for myself. "I know right? While stuck, we'd tell each other scary stories, play made up games, and talk some more." "Yeah." Those were some good times, but… I doubt something like that can happen now that we're grown ups. There's so much work to do and getting stuck here for hours is wasting time for something far better and productive. While thinking to myself, I haven't realized that Toma already got so close to me. "So Yuji, do you mind if I ask you about Xia?" Since there was nothing else to do, I entertained his questions. "Sure." "When did you meet her?" "I used to see her at some classes since we were freshmens, and I just got acquainted with her at the start of the school year." "Then how did you guys started dating?" "Uhm, she confessed to me. Then I decided to go out with her." "What!?" It surprised him to know that. "Is there a problem?" "It's surprising that a girl confessed to you. Most girls that pestered me about you when we were in highschool doesn't have the guts to confess to you. They kept saying you were scary and that you might reject them." This was a new discovery, I couldn't believe what I heard. "What!?" I just spouted the same reaction he just did. "Girls were pestering you because of me!? I thought all those girls were after you." I didn't know I was quite popular back then. "Yeah! Though I didn't bother helping any of those girls because you always say they're annoying and that you didn't want to date anyone after you broke up with your first girlfriend." He chuckled. So it was the same for both of us, I used to get pestered by girls as well just because they like Toma. I'm just shock to know that some girls liked someone like me. "Well, some still do pester me 'til now..." he admitted. "Likewise." I told him as well. "Better tell them to stop asking about you since you got a girlfriend now." "Mhmm." Then he rests his head on my lap all of a sudden, followed by a yawn. "The heck Toma!?" "Mm, all that talk made me sleepy, let me borrow your lap for a while." "Looks like you don't give a s**t about getting out of here." He grins while his eyes were closed. "We'll get out of here eventually. Plus I don't mind spending a long time here if I'm trapped with you." Those were his last ridiculous words before he sleeps. I didn't know how to respond to that, but all I felt that moment was my face getting a little hot. *** Just like what Toma said, we both got out of the storage room eventually. Xia was the one who came to our rescue. "Yujiiii!" She hugged me as soon as we got out of the storage room. "Thanks for helping Xia." I told her as I placed my hand on top of her head. She looks at me with her teary eyes. "I'm really sorry you had to go through this." "It's fine, atleast you're okay." I'm sort of glad I helped her with the things she was supposed to do. If I haven't helped her, she'd be terrified and stuck with an i***t. "Hey Xia! Thanks for saving us." Toma said, patting her back. "Ahh, I was really worried about Yuji. Thank goodness I found you guys." "Right. If you haven't found us, we'd be stuck here until tomorrow." I said. "I'm really sorry!" "I told you it's okay." Then I felt the urge to squeeze her cheeks to stop her from apologizing. "Wuchii!" She wasn't able to speak clearly because of me squeezing her face. And there she goes with her puppy eyes again. "Tsk. I said it's alright, so stop with the apologies." "Mhmm, owkay." "Ehem." Then my moment with Xia was interrupted by Toma. "Ah, I forgot you existed." I joked. He rolled his eyes. "…it's time we get out of this school." He said and pointed at the large clock at the end of the corridor. "Ah yeah, let's get out of here and have dinner altogether." I suggested. Xia frowns as she tells her excuse. "I'm sorry but I have a lot to do for tonight." "It's okay! I guess it's just the two of us, Yuji." Toma happily said. "Hngg.." Xia looked like she badly wants to come along with us, so I just told her an idea that popped in my head. "Let's have dinner together next time." I said smiling. Her eyes sparkled. "Really?" "Yeah! I mean, why not?" "Ahh~ a second date with Yuji." She whispered to herself, blushing all over. When we all left the campus, we waited for Xia's cab to make sure she safely gets home. "Bye guys!" She waved goodbye when she got inside the cab. And after that, I headed back to the dorm. "Yuji?… aren't we going to get dinner?" He asks. "I realized I don't have any money on me. Do you got some on you?" I was thankful Xia had to do something for the night, or else I might've died from embarassment because of this. "Uck, I don't have money either." He said while checking his pockets. "Heh, let's just heat some left overs at the fridge for dinner." "Yeah." He looked a bit disappointed. I just patted his back to console him, while doing so, I noticed something on the back pocket of his pants. 'He had his phone the whole time.' I didn't know how to confront him about this so I just stayed quiet until we got back to our dorm. It was weird that he hid his phone earlier… I just shrugged it off but it kept my mind to wonder why.
