It was uncomfortable… And yet, I didn't mind him leaning on me. "…I was really upset back then. Cami broke up with me just because she had to transfer to abroad." He began to talk and further lean closer on my neck that I can feel his long eyelashes on my skin. "I thought she was everything I could ever hope for, and that my life is finally complete, but she… left me." "Y-Yeah, I-I'm sorry about that." I said, feeling uneasy when his arms suddenly wraps my waist. "I was devastated. When Cami left, I feel like there's no sense in living in this world without the woman I love. But you were there beside me the whole time." He looks at me with his drunked eyes, I can smell the strong scent of the alcohol he drank earlier. "It really touched me when you were there the whole time, to the point that I got confused and realize what was going on inside my head. Yuji… Yuji, I like you." 'Dug dug, dug dug' I can feel my heart beating so fast from hearing Toma's words. I wasn't expecting this any sooner--no, I shouldn't have expect this at all. We're both guys and... I mean, who would've thought? Though something doesn't feels right. "Toma… you're drunk." Yeah, how can I forget that? That should've been on my mind when this started. I shouldn't take a drunken man's words seriously. "But I'm not that drunked, I needed this so I can gather up my courage to confess to you." "Toma!…" "Yuji, I really like you! So please, continue staying by my side. I need you." He buried his face on my shoulder and hugged me real tight. "Toma, stop this, you're just drunk and confused. You should lay down on your bed and get some rest." I told him while trying to get him off of me. "No! I'm not just drunk and confused. Seriously, I like you Yuji!" "Stop being so stubborn and go to your bed!" I yelled back at him. "Why can't you just accept my feelings!?" He yelled again. I sighed, seeing this one coming. Toma has always been this pushy-- "We're both dudes! Everyone's gonna laugh at us for doing s**t like this." "I've seen your face when I used to go out with Cami, when you avoid me when I talk about her, and why you blushed so hardly when I accidentally kissed you! And just now, I can hear the loud beating in your chest." --especially when he got concrete proof so he can get what he want. "That's ridiculous!" "I'm not stupid nor dense, I know how you feel about me!" "Though you can't just force yourself like that!" I told him. He stops when he realized what I've just said. He let go of me and backs away. "Right. This will never work out." His face darkens at his thoughts, then turn his back on me. "I'm sorry. Just forget this ever happened." When he finally got out of my sight, I let out a heavy sigh. It all feels so weird now, and my heart can just jump out of my chest from beating so hard. It was embarassing to think that my heart was beating so loud that Toma heard it. "Ugh…" I sat on the cold tiled floor. "Why did we ended up like this?" I asked myself, trying to remember all the things that happened between Toma and I. *** It was the 16th of August, the beginning of our second year in college starts tomorrow. When all things were unpacked in our room, Toma and I decided to grab some dinner. "Dude, I could go for some huge bowl of ramen right now." Toma said, rubbing his stomach to show how hungry he already is. "I thought we agreed on spicy chicken?" I asked. "No, no, no, I don't want to implant a bomb on the toilet later." "I'll still eat some though. C'mon, let's go." Then we went out of the campus dorm after fixing a few more stuff left. While we were walking, Toma noticed something from a distance and talked to me. "Damn. Yuji, I can't believe she's dating Duke." He said, quickly pointing at some place and there I saw Cami with her boyfriend Duke. "Well, just be happy for her. You had your chance with her and wasted it. So don't go crying about it." I told him. Toma always had a huge crush on Cami ever since we were all freshmen. He used to have a chance to ask her out, but he didn't had the guts to do it. "Man, I heard from a few that Duke is a jerk. She won't be so happy with him." He said, and looks like he's about to sulk about it. "You're not so different you know. You still date a lot of girls, and you can't even manage to ask out the girl you really like." Yes, this friend of mine since childhood can't ask out the girl he likes despite being such a playboy. "What!? Well, er… yeah I go on dates, but it's always the girls that ask me out! If I try to ask Cami on a date, that would be my first time." He had a point there. It's really the girls that ask him out first. Toma actually has the looks that every girl daydreams of, he's a dreamboat--that's what most girls say about him when I talk to the girls he date. "Right. And I just want to eat some spicy chicken, don't pull me into your love life. I have nothing to do with that." I reminded him. He always try to make me his-- "But you're my wingman! Dude, aren't we like, brother? We've been together since childhood, and I've helped you a lot of times before too. So can't you just help me with Cami?" He begged, making a pitiable face. "Ugh… fine. But I'll do that when they break up." "Great! I'll owe you a big one. Though if you ever had a girl you like, I might help you with that too." He proudly says, as if he can do it. However I doubt he can be of help, I bet he might steal the girl I like with that face of his. "Yeah, let's just eat for now." I said once we got into the eatery near the campus. "I could go for a beer or two. My treat!" He suggested. "Let's not get that drunk, we have the first day of school tomorrow." I told him. "Right, let's gooo!" He ignores my words then he pulls me inside the eatery. Though I regret to have him treat me because the next morning, I had a hangover.
