Chapter 1

"Today, you'll be going on another date with Sahil and please I don't want you to mess it up with one of your football stories and why Genevieve should have been benched before playing in the 2025 African cup of Nation games" I heard the high pitched voice of my annoying best friend Sarai, even though there's nothing I don't love about her, I really do wish her voice wasn't like that, it reminds me of those classy, snobby and snotty queen bees of high school which I desperately tried to avoid then

"What are you thinking about? babe, you haven't answered my question"

Huhg, the voice, don't get me wrong I really love her, despite how you might see her when you meet her at first, she's a big large teddy bear living in the midst of humans

"Your voice" I answered her

"We are not talking about my voice today" she try to say the word sternly but with that kind of voice everything she says sounds like a lullaby

"Aww, are you singing again" I said trying to tease her

"You will stop that this very minute or I'll fry your legs" she said

"You will not do that" I said taking a step back from her, I'm not using my legs as a joke, one of the best things that ever happened to me, how would I be the best female footballer without these God given gifts

"Try me and see"

"The witch" I huffed

"Now look what you've done, you are thirty minutes behind the time, come here and let's start to get ready"

"On second thoughts, I don't think I should go, I need to practice"

She gave me the are you serious look, "babe, you've been practicing since like forever"

"Common, I don't even know this shaib guy and I've told you stop setting me up with blind dates!" I said with tears in my eyes, one look at Sarai, I know I've messed up, because if I thought they we're tears in my eyes I was totally wrong, Sarai was one second from wetting the whole nation

"Sarai" I say in hopes of begging her

"Don't" she say and she walked out

I sigh, guess I have to go to the date after all I guess that would pacify her
