His sudden confession catches me off guard, and for I second, I don't know how to respond.
Jason is my boss. He's been secretly helping me for weeks. He has feelings for me.
And God help me, I have feelings for him too.
But... "I should be mad at you."
"I know."
"You lied to me."
"I did."
"But if you'd told me earlier..." I trail off, thinking about it. "I probably would have pulled away." Samuel's betrayal had been too raw to trust another man easily.
If it wasn't for Charlie... I don't think I would've developed trust for Jason this quickly at all.
"Exactly. Are you angry?"
"I should be." I take a step closer. "But mostly I'm just... grateful. For everything you've done. For being honest now, before this—whatever this is—goes any further."
