The audacity of this man. Isn't he the same person who called Charlie broken and not normal just two weeks ago? How then, did he suddenly remember the same boy he despised is his son?
Jason steps between us. "Samuel, you need to leave now."
Samuel looks Jason up and down, contempt dripping from every word. "Caroline's new boyfriend? How touching. She certainly doesn't waste time."
"I'm Rose's father," Jason says evenly. "And Caroline's friend. And I'm telling you to leave before we call the police."
"Call them." Samuel's smile is vicious. "I'll wait right here while you explain why you're preventing a father from exercising his parental rights. We're still married, Caroline. No judge has terminated my custody. That means I have every right to take Charlie with me."
