I found his information the same way I find everything—through careful research and strategic phone calls. When I started digging into Caroline's background, his name came up immediately. The ex-husband. The custody battle. The very public, very messy divorce that made local headlines this year.
I called him right after Jason told me to leave.
I didn't have a plan when I called. I just needed—I don't know. Information. Leverage. Something that would help me understand Caroline's weaknesses.
What I got was a man who sounded like he'd been waiting for my call.
Samuel has regrets too. Different ones than mine, but regrets all the same. He lost Caroline. He lost his son. He lost his position in the family business and his reputation and everything that mattered to him.
