Chapter 2 It had been a pretty crappy week. I’d been off the cigarettes for five days, and I’m sure I don’t have to spell out the consequences. On the third day a cold-calling salesman got a f*****g earful. I really don’t think he’ll be ringing again. The patches and gum take the edge off a bit. Not enough, but I’ve persisted, even though I’d barely seen Chris. He must have had a couple of days off. And when I did see him again it was across the other side of the gym floor and I got nothing but a nod. Maybe he’d seen that I hadn’t booked in for any kind of fitness assessment or training program yet, and had decided I was just full of s**t.
