Seeing that he was about to attack my brother, I counter his attack with a kick to his chest which pushes him away from Liam and changes the angle that he was standing from south-east to south-west.
This causes him to see something that is, apparently, extremely distracting for him. He continues to stare at it as if he's forgotten what he came here to do. Liam notices this and prepares to attack, before he does though, I look at what Bryan was staring at.
It's a girl, our age, but a bit shorter than my 5'6". She has mid-length blue hair and grass-green eyes. She was staring at Bryan the same way he was staring at her.
My brother cracks his knuckles, bringing Bryan back to the situation at hand.
"No!" The girl shouts, realising what was happening. She throws herself in front of Bryan, protecting him from the punch Liam was about to deliver. Bryan turns them around so the punch lands on his back.
"Stop, Liam, they're mates," I whisper to my brother. "I'll be back in a minute."
I run up to Cameron's room to get him, as we need the pack alpha for matters like these. When I enter, I see Cameron pacing.
I clear my throat and his head shoots up immediately.
"Is it over?" He asks, rushing over to me, checking for any injuries.
"Far from it," I reply, allowing him to check. "But it just got a whole lot more complicated and we need you to come and decide what happens now."
"What happened? Is Liam alright? My sister would kill me then herself if he was hurt." Cameron rushes out.
"Everyone is fine, Cameron," I tell him as calmly as I can. "The guy we were fighting, Bryan, he's mated to one of the girls in your pack, and you need to decide what to do."
"Oh, that's easy, I just need a quick conversation with him, then I'll decide whether I accept him into the pack ... or kick them both out." I give him a disapproving look at the last part of his sentence.
"Stop that. You'll be nice okay?" I tell him, grabbing his hand to pull him along with me.
"Yes ma'am." He replies and I can practically hear his smirk.
I roll my eyes and drag him downstairs.
"Stop." He commands in a gruff.
I stop. "Yes?" I ask, giving him a sickly sweet smile.
He doesn't say anything, just pulls me in for a kiss. A very deep, passionate kiss. I kiss him back with as much enthusiasm as possible, wrapping my hands around his neck, lacing my fingers through the hair at the nape of his neck, pushing my body as close to his as possible. He responds by putting one hand on my waist and tangling one in my hair.
"I was so f*cking worried. Don't ever do that to me again, not like that anyway." He breathes after we end our kiss.
"I won't," I whisper back. "We have to go deal with this now, then I'll explain everything."
"Okay, baby," He smiles and takes my hand, leading me out to the courtyard.
We arrive after a quiet two (2) minute walk to see Liam and Miranda staring at Bryan and the girl with puzzled looks and Bryan and the girl gazing into each other's eyes.
"Alright, I'm back," I announce, breaking the awkward silence. "This is my mate, Cameron, he's the alpha of the pack, and he's gonna decide what to do with this situation," I tell Bryan.
"Nice to meet you, Sir," Bryan says, bowing his head slightly.
Cameron just nods his head in acknowledgement and turns his head to look at me, "What exactly happened?"
"Well, the agency that my brother and I used to work for sent Bryan to eliminate us as a threat to them, as we were mid-fight, Bryan and this girl caught eyes, and Liam and I were going to use this distraction to our advantage, not knowing that he'd found his mate. Then the girl ran over to try to protect him, he turned them just in time to take the blow, then I stopped them, and came to get you, now we're here." I explain quickly.
"Alright, baby," He says, then turns to face Bryan. "What's your side of the story?"
"The agency told me that the O'Connell twins had gone rogue after finding out they're shifters and had stolen the information for my mate, who I'd been too scared to contact in case I messed up, and they were going to k!ll her, so I came to stop them, I never wanted to k!ll them because the agency has been known to lie to their assassins," Bryan explained and I winced at the word 'assassins'.
"My decision has been made," Cameron said. "You will both stay in the pack, one of my gammas will be keeping an eye on you though Bryan, I can't risk losing Mia."
"Thank you, Alpha," The girl and Bryan say.
"Hmm." Cameron then turns to me, "You have some explaining to do, missy."
I look up at him through my lashes, hoping it'd get me some sympathy points.
"I'm not mad at you, baby, I just need to know." He tells me in a softer voice.
"Well, Liam and I worked for an agency called S.M.U.T.A, no one but the leaders know what it means, there's many different job roles there, Liam and I are trained assassins. When we turn eighteen (18), we learn more about ourselves, including if we're shifters or not, Liam and I opted out of learning that, and five (5) days ago, our Uncle Mike told us that we're shifters and that you and Miranda were our mates, so, we started packing everything up, and today, we drove all the way here. Then, Bryan comes and tries to attack us. Now, here we are."
"Wow." Cameron says and just stands there silently.
"Camy?" I ask quietly, hoping he's not mad.
"Not right now." He says, running a hand through his hair, then turning to walk away.
"Cameron!" I shout after him. "You can't just walk away." I yell as I start to follow after him.
"We were on the phone for five (5) hours as you were driving here and you didn't think to mention you were an assassin." He says, "Why didn't you say anything"
"Because that's the type of thing you tell someone in person, not over the phone."
"Fine, come with me, and then tell me about it."
"Of course," I whisper, worried about what he'd think.
"I don't hate you, Mia, I'm just mad that I had to find out in front of other people."
"Well, who's fault is that? I wanted to wait until we were alone."
