Chapter 26
When Lydia called Danny and told him about the Ipstien girl, his first thought was for Angel. The town kids had all seen what Angel had done to Amber, and they’d be talking about it now, their shock turning to grief, and their grief to anger. Anger for the outsider. They’d be out for blood.
He called his mom’s house, and Grim answered on the first ring.
“Michele?” His voice sounded almost panicked.
“Sorry, bro, just me.”
Grim was silent on the other end.
Not in a talking mood, Danny thought.
“Is mom there?”
“No, she took Angel somewhere this morning.”
“Did you hear about Amber Ipstien?”
“Yeah,” Grim said. “Everyone thinks it’s Angel’s fault.”
“I know,” Danny said. And he had to bite his lips against the next thought that popped into his head.
