Chapter 2

I had nearly choked on my saliva when I heard him speak to me for the first time, he asked if I was dumb? How rude! "I'm so sorry, how do you mean?” I leaned forward and asked as politely as possible with a forced smile on my face, keeping this job was way more important to me than anything else. “You meet someone for the first time, you introduce yourself. That's common knowledge, weren't you taught?" He spoke, I could hear the irritation in his voice while his enchanting eyes were fixated on me. Oh. “I'm so sorry, I wasn't…" I stuttered a bit, an embarrassed chuckle escaped my lips. I felt thrown off guard but immediately found my footing and said, "My name is Lena Fisher and I'm the newly hired…” "I know all of that,” he said, cutting me off and he stood up. "Follow me." I followed. I grabbed my suitcase and followed him but couldn't stop frowning with my eyes focused on his wide back. As a gentleman, wasn't he supposed to help me carry my suitcase? Guess he wasn't taught either. And why had he been staring at my scar like that? Did he find them ugly? I couldn't tell. We walked towards what looked like a grand stairs that led upstairs, he climbed and I followed, dragging my suitcase and out of the blue, by the time I was about ten flights up, I lost my footing and fell with my suitcase. This wasn't a minor fall. I fell with my lower back hitting the edge of the stairs and rolled down with my suitcase. I yelped and immediately went red when the pain from my back clouded my senses, I hissed and quickly forced myself up, worried that he would see me. However, to my horror, he stood still at the top of the stairs and was watching me. I went red from embarrassment this time and wished the ground could swallow me whole. He had a blank unreadable stare, no sympathy, no worries, nothing just blank. Ignoring him, I picked up my suitcase and climbed up till I was standing before him. Wordlessly, he continued walking and I followed again, wondering why he didn't ask if I was okay. Was this how bosses in the city behaved? In the small town where I came from, the bosses there could be some real piece of shits but at least, they cared and showed concern towards their workers. This made me wonder if coming here was a mistake. “This is your bedroom, I'll call you if need be. Monday, you'll resume. For now, rest." He said and didn't wait to hear from me before leaving. I sighed and opened the door to my new bedroom and nearly choked at how beautiful the room was. It had all the basic furniture and was extremely spacious, bigger than my old bedroom. I quickly settled in and was surprised to see the wardrobe had clothes in it. Not bad for a nonchalant boss. I quickly arranged my belongings and showered since it was already evening. I picked out a pink night dress from the wardrobe, it didn't come from my suitcase, and wore it after showering. As soon as I stepped out of the shower, I heard my phone ringing, it was an unknown number, I didn't feel like picking but did anyway. "Report to my room immediately.” BEEP! BEEP! The call ended right after, it was him, my new boss. Report to his room? But I just got here! I sighed and stepped out of my bedroom with a frown because I had no idea where his bedroom was. Thankfully, as soon as I stepped out, I saw Stephen approaching. Thank God! I thought and asked him where the boss’ bedroom was. "It's right there, Madame.” He pointed and walked away, leaving me in complete confusion. His room was right beside mine? Why? I walked towards the door and knocked before entering. His room was spacious too but it felt like a completely different world from his heaven-like mansion, this felt like the devil's abode. The interior of his bedroom had a dark touch to it, it was cozy too, unlike mine that felt a little bit empty. His room smelt like cedar and something darker, expensive and cold. I looked around as I walked in till my eyes met his dark ones, he had been watching me since I stepped in. He sat on a chair before a wide table that was set in a corner of his room. We spent minutes looking at each other and this was me staring back wondering why he was staring at me and not speaking. His eyes weren't just on mine, they seemed to move around me, from my head down to my feet and back up again, and on my scar, again. "Uhmmm, you called?" I said, breaking the confusing silence as I stood still with both my hands clasped before me. “I did. Move closer." He responded, his deep and oddly satisfying voice filled the extremely quiet room and although not sure why, I did as I was told. A part of me knew if he wasn't my boss, I would have moved to his commands anyway, he had that compelling power in him, I couldn't pinpoint why. I moved briskly, feeling overly conscious of myself with his eyes not leaving my body. I stood near him and waited. I remained standing for a few seconds and when he said or did nothing, I looked down at him to find his eyes on my chest. A frown made its way to my face, curious, I stared down at my chest and my stomach dropped. Behold, my n*****s were boldly evident in the light night-dress I wore. My eyes slowly widened from sheer shock, quickly tried to cover them with my hands but the shame of him seeing me like that had consumed me whole and I wanted nothing more than to disappear. “Where are you going?" He grabbed my hands and pulled me back when I tried to leave. “I'm sorry, I didn't know…" “Shhhh, relax." He said and pulled me closer, I wanted to resist but somehow forgot how to move and to my biggest horror, he made me sit on his thighs. This wasn't right, I knew this was wrong but couldn't move in the moment. My thoughts were still scattered all over the place when I felt his hands move around my torso, he pulled me closer to his body and rested his head on my back. "Silly little thing, falling like a clumsy rabbit.” He murmured and pulled away but he wasn't done because his hands moved to my back. I hissed when he pressed on the place I had injured from my fall on his stairs earlier today. I noticed he turned more gentle and gave me soft massages instead and that was when I finally got a grip of myself. I sprang up from his thighs, "I'm so sorry,” and I ran out of his bedroom like I was being chased by the devil himself.
