I leaned back in my seat and smiled at my friends. It was a good day. A good summer, really. It was hard to believe only two years ago our summer ended with a trip to Hawaii to get Ms. Georgia and Eddie married before cancer took Ms. Georgia from us. I wished she could be there to see how we were all doing.
“What are you thinking about?” Blake asked me quietly.
Having Blake go from my best friend to my sister was my favorite change. We’d always been close, and when she and Ian got together, it felt natural and normal and perfect.
“I was just thinking about Ms. Georgia.”
“She would have loved this,” Blake said. “She would have been right in the middle of all of it, offering advice and telling all of us to live life and enjoy.”
